I really just want to sing the theme song to introduce these recaps, but me singing it while I type is just going to have to do. You all just hum, sing, whistle, etc. along accordingly, okay? Cool, now with that set up let’s get to the fun adventures of Pinkie Pie and Rarity in these week’s recap.

Manehattan! Are you appropriately freaking out? I mean Pinkie has her party cannon, which can I just say I totally want one of those for random moments of excitement. Just think, any achievement could be made extra awesome with that cannon. Take out the trash, woo confetti! Do your taxes, woo confetti! Actually leave your home to interact with human beings socially, woo confetti! See, the opportunities are endless.

PSSD, Pie Sisters Surprise Swap Day, is a tradition between Pinkie and her sisters that she will be celebrating with Maud while in Manehattan. Pinkie wants Rarity’s help to rock Maud’s socks. Yes, punning is happening. She plans to buy Maud a rock pouch for Boulder, but she doesn’t want to ruin the surprise. Though she does keep hinting that the gift is amazing. As they check out shop fronts and do some sightseeing Pinkie is getting more and more excited about the gift for Maud.

She has to sneak away to get the gift, while Rarity distracts Maud. This involves her learning the story of how Maud met Boulder, but everything goes to schist when the owner of the rock pouch store is on vacation in Canterlot. Yes, schist is a rock, I told you punning was happening.Pinkie tells Rarity all about what happened in perfect Pinkie fashion and Rarity makes it her quest to help her find the perfect present. She though starts freaking out when nothing she shows her is a perfect gift. Maud just wants to look at rocks. They both see the bag that Pinkie wanted to get Maud on the flank of a con artist looking pony. Seriously dude has coins as his mark, all the shady. He offers her a swap. Cannon for the pouch.

Gift of the Maud Pie, what does that sound like? Strike any literary bells? Like the Christmas story The Gift of the Magi? See, Pinkie swapped the cannon for the pouch. Rarity is aghast because Pinkie Pie loves that thing. The Pie sisters swap presents and after a very brief song, it’s revealed that Maud got Pinkie cupcake scented confetti for her now sadly gone party cannon. Rarity breaks under the intense pressure of Maud’s glacial stare, see sort of a rock pun, and reveals that Pinkie gave away her party cannon. Maud confronts shady pony and demands he let her exchange the pouch for the cannon. It does help that Rarity adds to the drama by freaking the pony out. Maud tells Pinkie that she loves her fiveever, which is more than forever, because she gives gifts full of love no matter what they are. With the friendship lesson delivered and Rarity’s new storefront found, we also get a new holiday from the Pies, PSSSDWR, Pie Sisters Surprise Swap Day With Rarity.
