Tyler Hoechlin who first became known to television audiences when he played Martin on 7th Heaven has been cast in Supergirl.

Hoechlin will play the Man of Steel himself Clark Kent/Superman when Supergirl returns for its second season on The CW.  Until now, there has been only mention of Superman and just brief appearances in the series opening credits and the season finale.

Tyler Hoechlin was a fan favorite when he played on MTV’s Teen Wolf.   The last actor who played Superman that appeared on a Greg Berlanti series was Tom Welling in Smallville.  It will be interesting to see  Hoechlin’s portrayal of the iconic character and his interactions with Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl, cousin Kara.
