I know this recap is a bit belated, but I just got a chance to watch Flutter Brutter and thought that because there wasn’t a new My Little Pony episode this week that I would go back and talk about the one I missed.
This episode starts at Fluttershy’s parents’ house, she and Rainbow Dash are there for a visit. While Fluttershy was just expecting to spend some time with her folks, it turns out that they had slightly ulterior motives. Apparently she has a younger brother named Zephyr Breeze and he isn’t particularly great at seeing things through. He has tried a bunch of different jobs, but whenever he gets frustrated he quits. He recently tried to be a hair therapist, but he didn’t want to follow the curriculum and dropped out. Zephyr planned to move back with their parents, but Fluttershy is totally not okay with this. Whenever he comes home he changes everything around and makes his parents take care of him. She wants him to stand on his own four hooves and make it on his own.

Fluttershy is very peeved about her brother mooching off of her parents and decides to take matters into her own hooves. She goes back home and sees Zephyr ruining not only their father’s cloud collection, but also her mother’s flowers. He insists that they don’t mind because he is renovating the area to make a studio. Fluttershy convinces their parents to get Zephyr to move out. Though he seems really upset, he insists he has a place to go. When she gets back to Ponyville Fluttershy finds herself with an unexpected guest. Zephyr has shown up at her place because technically it’s not living in the same place as before. She does say that he can live with her, but he has to get a job. Early the next morning Fluttershy has Zephyr up and out on the job hunt, well maybe trail is a better word. She had already set him up with a job at Rarity’s store. All Zephyr has to do is dye fabric the proper colors.

Rarity and Fluttershy leave Zephyr to his work and come back to a shop covered in dye and filled with animals. He decided to try and get animals to do the work for him, it turns out he can’t talk to animals. This is just the first of the job attempts. Fluttershy takes him to clean windows at Twilight’s and he finds a way to get Spike to do it. Then in a final attempt to get him working on his own Rainbow Dash has him work with her. He runs away from that job after getting shocked a few times with some storm clouds. Fluttershy says that he needs a job to stay and he decides to leave. Later a little birdie tells her that Zephyr is off in the woods. She and Rainbow Dash go to check on him and he has gone a little crazy. He finally reveals that he is afraid of failure, which is why he never finishes anything. There’s a musical number and during it Zephyr accomplishes a hairstyle on a mannequin pony. Later Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are visiting her parents again and learn that Zephyr has graduated from mane therapy school, though he does need a place to crash for a couple of days.
