It’s literally ‘The Battle of The Sexes’ at Everlasting as Chet (Craig Bierko) and Quinn (Constance Zimmer) are continuing their competition to produce the better version of the show. Chet idea is all about things he feels will attract a male audience. As long as Darius (B.J. Britt) doesn’t have to do anything that would cause his million dollar insured body to get hurt (foreshadowing much?)
Meanwhile, Quinn and Rachel (Constance Zimmer, Shiri Appleby) are strategizing over smokes. This scene is like two high school friends talking about “their stupid boyfriends” over cigarettes. The women know they can do better than ‘The boys club’ Gary (Christopher Cousins) seems to be endorsing by hiring Coleman (Michael Rady).
Speaking of which, Coleman greets Quinn and Rachel and asks how everything’s going. “There’s a gaggle of lost girls in their underwear and not a hint of romance in sight,” Quinn says. Coleman insists HE knows what he’s doing running the show. But the only thing Quinn knows is that Coleman is annoying!
Quinn’s had enough of the men and their pompous attitude that they can produce a better show. She goes to Wagerstein (Amy Hill) for juicy dirt on the women that she can use for her segment. Her best candidates are Brandi, who grew up in the foster care system and obviously still suffers the scars of her childhood and Chantal, (Meagan Tandy) because she’s suffered the loss of a dead fiancé. Quinn will set these two against each other. She starts by telling Brandi (Monique Ganderton) that she should watch her back against the other women who will do anything to win and then goes to Chantal and says that the other women, especially the ‘fighter chick’ (Brandy) are saying Chantal is using her dead fiancé’s death as a way to get sympathy from Darius.
Chet has decided to do a female obstacle course event in which the woman who wins gets a date with Darius. He dubs it ‘Miss America Meets American Ninja.’ Brandi and Chantal seems to be competing against each other. When Chantal pulls ahead of her while climbing the wall, Brandi pulls her down and Chantal falls to the ground!
Brandi wins the date with Darius but also wins a stint in ‘the hole’, which is a small room with a sink, bed, toilet and camera so Quinn can observe Brandi losing it. It’s “unreal’ that a reality dating show would have a ‘cell’ in which to put naughty and dangerous women- is this UnReal’s version of Wentworth?
Chantal sustained a concussion but will be okay. The Cinderella hospital moment is filmed with Chantal and Darius. Though, it would have been more like Sleeping Beauty if Darius had to awaken an unconscious Chantal with a kiss.
Later, during an evening at the house Ruby (Denee Benton) borrows a red dress that makes her looks absolutely hot! Darius comments “You clean up good.” While they are talking, Beth Ann (Lindsay Musil) interrupts. Ruby tries to keep her cool but is getting so tired of Beth Ann. Madison (Genevieve Buechner) says that people on Twitter love Beth Ann because she’s “Donald Trump with boobs.”
Quinn visits Brandi in the hole and tells her she’ll let her out if she shares her story about the foster care system on camera. Brandi doesn’t want to do that. Not until Rachel arrives to get her ready for her ‘goodbye’ date with Darius, insisting that her stunt with Chantal guaranteed that she’ll be sent home.
Not wanting to lose her chance with Darius, Brandi tells him about her difficult life in foster care which included being burned on the arm by one of her foster dads. Darius is sympathetic and comforting.
But later Quinn introduces Darius to Brandi’s mother who says her daughter is a pathological liar.
So at the elimination ceremony, Darius decides that instead of sending home the four women he is supposed to, he’s changing the rules and sending home one: Brandy. He tells her that he can’t forgive her for lying to his face. Brandi insists she didn’t lie. Darius tells him that Brandi’s mother told him everything. Brandi says she never seen the woman Darius points out as her mother in her life.
Then Brandi jumps on Darius’ back tackling him while screaming she’s not a liar! Security has to dragged her off of him. In the control room, Quinn is smiling and praising her genius, “Call the Emmys.” And oh yeah, Brandi’s mother is an actress from Central Casting.
When Gary visits the set, he thanks everyone for their contributions to Everlasting but singles out one person in particular. Quinn looks like the cat-that-ate-the-canary until Gary says “Coleman” and then awards Wasserman with a brand new car. Now, Quinn knows what it feels like to be Rachel! Gary explains to Quinn that because he hired Coleman, she and Chet are at the top of their game. However, she needs to learn how to ruin in her people as it was Rachel who came to him and urged him to send Quinn and Chet home because they were ruining Everlasting. Quinn shoots Rachel daggers with her eyes.
Having called his ex earlier about letting him see his son and getting hung up by Cynthia, Chet goes into the baby’s nursery and kidnaps the boy!
Rachel rushes to pack her things as she gets the feeling that Quinn knows she told Gary to get rid of she and Chet. Coleman calls Chet and Quinn producing ‘dinosaurs’ who don’t hold a candle to them. Later, Rachel gets a call from Darius, who is now staying at the Everlasting house. Apparently, Brandi’s attack caused him to injury his back. Told you, foreshadowing!
