@dark_matterTV Recap: We Were Family from @kleffnotes

This week we opened in Three’s past with his mother rushing into his room in the middle of the night. She grabs him and has him hide in a closet until she comes back for him. The problem is she isn’t the person who opens the door after a he hears a huge fight happening. The only reason we can tell it’s Three is because he has that little rocket in his hand that he had in his box that he opened last week.

In the present Two is telling Devon that they don’t have a lot of supplies and that they are running low on money. He insists that he needs plasma for the operation on Six, which will be difficult to get if they are broke. Two says that Five had a stash hidden away that the super max facility couldn’t find. Then he jokes that she’ll be running the place within a year, which leads to a discussion of whether he’ll be staying or leaving. He’s useful according to Two, but he doesn’t really seem to think they want him around. In the kitchen Three is hanging out when Arax pulls out some alcohol that Three insists is from a private stash for special occasions. Arax says this is a special occasion because they are toasting to their new partnership. Three says he sounds like he wants to stay around and Arax says they shouldn’t dump him. He though wants them to get rid of Six, he doesn’t trust a cop on board. Two goes to Five’s room and asks her about a sketch. She drew something that she saw in their shared memory and while Five doesn’t understand why she’d want to go back, Two thinks she might have to. Four is training and Nyx comes in. The two spar for a bit and she insists she’s a quick learner. They move from staffs to swords and again come to a stalemate. She says that she can guess her opponents’ moves when she fights, which Four doesn’t think is possible. She says that if they keep her around then maybe there’ll be time for her to tell him. Three goes to see Five and while he tries to sound chummy, he winds up asking her for money. She offers to give him $500, but with interest. He says that he thinks he’s been a bad influence on her, but totally takes the money. Android sees Five and asks her about the trip to the space station and winds up asking her if she can join them. She wants to study human behavior and doesn’t think that just studying the crew is the best way to learn. Nyx and Two go to a transit location and Nyx slips into a British accent and says that they are architectural students working on their thesis. They have a sketch of a building, but have no idea where it’s located. After saying that their professor didn’t know and that they thought she would be more knowledgeable, the woman excitedly goes to check her database. Arax and Three are at a bar and notice some men eyeing them. They plan how they’ll take them down, when they approach and the older man says hello.

The man realizes Three doesn’t remember him and asks him what happened. Three says that a stasis pod wiped his memory. Then when one of them says they were a family, Three says that they abandoned him on a planet. The older man says that he had been shot and he thought he was dead. Devon, Five, and Android are finishing up, but when Devon says they can head back to the ship Android asks to stay. They tell her that they’ll head back, but it is odd that she’ll be alone around humans. Three is very confused by the conversation he’s having with the men, but one of them insists that the older man was like a father to Three. Back with Nyx and Two, the woman tells them that the building belongs to Dwarf Star Industries, which is located on Earth. A security guard confronts Android about why she’s in the shop and while she says she’s getting supplies, he continues to push her for information. A man comes forward and says that she’s his android and then offers to buy a toothbrush for her that she wants to give as a gift. He introduces himself as Victor and asks her to come with him. At the bar the man tells Three who he is. He was a drifter who his parents hired when no one else would and he found Three hidden in his mother’s closet after two men murdered them. He says he tracked down the men and killed them, but that he took Three in because he didn’t have any other relatives. He said he did his best, but was never a real role model. Victor brought Android to his ship and everyone on it is an android in hiding. Arax is back at the Raza and makes a call to the woman who has an intense interest in Five. He tells her that now is the perfect time to pick up her package.

One of the men tells Victor that Android isn’t like them because she’s an out of date utility model who doesn’t even have the correct emotional response programs. Victor thinks that she really does have emotions, even though one of the female androids believes she is parroting human emotion. Victor asks to run a diagnostic and the two begin connecting. On the Raza Four says he needs to show some of them something on the bridge. In the infirmary Devon talks to Five about Six. He promises to do his best for her friend and when she asks how she can help he says he could use some coffee. When she leaves he injects himself with a vial and then seems to pass out. Four wanted to show Two a news report about One’s death. He is focused on their mention of a person of interest. Three is gearing up and when Five asks him what he’s doing he says he’s going out on a job to get her money back. Five is worried that he is trusting these people, but he says that he did his due diligence and checked everyone out. Arax is asking for more details about what is going on with Five and how the pickup is going to run, but his contact is very tight lipped. Android’s diagnostic is done and she asks if the other androids’ people know that they are flawed. One of the men asks if she noticed they were androids and she says that they registered as human. Victor says that the reason she thought they were human is because they have upgraded using a program that allows them to pass as human. Then he offers it to her.

Three is on his mission with his old crew and he gets down to work very quickly. Android and Victor are still together and he says that her diagnostic will still take a few hours. She plans to return to her ship, but he says that they still need to go shopping. On the Raza Arax gets into Five’s room and starts snooping. Devon is working on Six in the infirmary when suddenly his hand locks up, when Two asks if anything is wrong he brushes it off. Arax finds a box inside a vent in Five’s room and grabs a chip of some sort out of it. As he’s leaving he bumps into Five, who is trying to relax while Six is under the knife. Arax tells her that she’ll be alright no matter how things shake out, which results in Five hugging him. He definitely looks guilty after that. Three’s crew is done, but their shuttle is a ways off. The man who was helping them from the inside was only helping because they had taken his son. Three is totally not okay with this, then one of the guys shoots the man that was forced to help them. When he tries to react, another man grabs him and tells him the son is fine. Victor picked out a dress for Android and she says she feels strange, but she looks amazing in it. After she buys the dress Victor says that they need to part ways now. She wanted to introduce him to her crew, but he says that humans shouldn’t be trusted. His diagnostic also showed him that she was intentionally created to have emotional responses and then he asks to kiss her. Android says okay and they briefly kiss before she leaves. She is smiling afterward, I think she has a crush on him. Three starts asking the men how long they’ve been working for Tanner, the old man who said he worked for his parents, and he asks about the scar he has. Tanner said he got it from killing the men who killed Three’s parents, but one of the men says that it’s from a poker game. When things get tense they ask if he’s going to give them any trouble and he says he probably never did, then we zoom out and see a bunch of muzzle flashes.

Three is the only one left standing and he goes to the cabin where Tanner and the boy are. He walks the kid into another room and once the door is closed Tanner asks about the payroll. Three says they have it and then says that the pilot is dead. Tanner curses and says that it’s probably better for the kid to be raised away from a mining town. He confronts him about killing his parents and Tanner says that Three always knew he did it, but that even though he did terrible things he couldn’t kill Three. He says he taught him to survive, but he insists that Three forgave him for killing his family. Then he says that Three redeemed him. As he finishes the sentence he pulls out a gun, but Three shoots him before he can get a shot off. He says he might have forgiven him, but he doesn’t remember now. Then he tells the boy he’s going to take him home. Two is watching over Six on the Raza and when he wakes up she tells him to be careful because he just had surgery. He asks why she saved him and she says that he saved them. He doesn’t think the crew was okay with any of this, but Two insists that even if they fought her on it that it’s fine. He’s particularly worried about Five, but she says that she’s forgiven him. Arax is meeting with the woman and when he gives over the key she tells him that it’s not the right key. Five played him. She’s explaining just what she did on the Raza. Two wanted her to keep an eye on him and she installed cameras. Then when she realized he was in her room she took the key back. They aren’t sure why, but people are willing to kill to get a hold of this key. Three gives Five back her money, but she doesn’t understand how he got the money. He left the payroll behind, but he still got the money back. Five realizes that the farm memories she loved so much were Three’s and she wishes that he could remember the love his parents had for him. On the bridge Android has the upgrade that could let her pass as human and is pondering using it. The mystery woman gets a call from a commander who says that the crew of the Raza holds the key to victory in an upcoming war.
