#BATB JT & Heather:The Perfect Non-Couple via @stacyamiller85 @AustinBasis @HeyItsNicoleA #Beasties

Beauty and The Beast may focus of evil organizations and their efforts to exploit by turning ordinary individuals into ‘beasts’ for nefarious purposes and the good guys’ determination to stop them, but at the heart of the show is its heart: The relationships. Romantic love, family and friendships.

For me, the relationship between JT Forbes (Austin Basis) and Heather Chandler (Nicole Anderson) is one of the most uncomplicated and enjoyable on the show.  Whenever these two share a scene, I can’t help but cheer ‘Yes’.  They are so natural in their conversations so even when they’re talking about beasts, the viewer can relate. Austin is the big brother that Heather never had.  He is protective and caring and always ready to listen to her.  And as fans of the show know, Heather can often be long-winded and go off on tangents when she talks.  But she is so darn cute that it never comes off as annoying.  Heather knows that when she comes to JT, there’s no judgments.  She can talk about her love life or lack thereof and he’s offers support. And vice -versa. When he didn’t know how he would tell Tess (Nina Lisandrello) that he decided to turn down tenure, JT felt comfortable telling Heather.  Their love is genuine without all the sticky romantic mess that is a hallmark on shows.

In the recent episode “Means To An End,” as the fight to clear Vincent’s name and bring down Graydal intensified, JT and Heather went undercover as a married couple, Mr. and Mrs. King and I yelled ‘Yes’ at my television screen!  Not that I wanted to see anything romantic between them (because that would feel weird) but because JT and Heather were going up against the bad guys without Cat (Kristin Kreuk), Vincent (Jay Ryan) or Tess and I couldn’t wait to see the unique and fun way they would handle themselves.  Of course, they are discovered and captured (oh well), but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the scenario less.

When I interviewed Austin Basis last year, one of the questions I asked was about the JT/Heather scenes.  It was obvious that Austin enjoys working with Nicole as much as we enjoy seeing JT and Heather together. Who would have thought that the best friend and the little sister would have become such a great pairing.  I know it won’t happen but I wouldn’t mind a JT/Heather Beauty and The Beast spin-off.  I’m sure that I wouldn’t be the only one tuning in!
