@dark_matterTV Recap: Take the Shot from @kleffnotes

Last week’s Dark Matter ended in a very peculiar place, Android’s bedroom. Since Android doesn’t have a real bedroom, just a charging pod, this threw me off quite a bit. This week we start right back in that room with what appears to be a very human Android.

As she explores her surroundings we see windows that look out on snowy trees and we see a photograph of Android with Victor, he enters. Android says that she had a dream that she was on a ship, they then talk about inviting people over and wind up starting to have sex, when Android wakes up. She looks confused and she then goes to talk to Two. Android tells her about the dream, though not in detail, and Two asks if they should be worried. She doesn’t know, but she says she needs to show them all something. Android calls a meeting and reveals her simulation, which leads to some Android vs Android banter. The simulation says that her data was deleted, which Five reveals she did. Two asks if there were any aberrations in her behavior and Android says that there were. Five says that Android didn’t tell them because she didn’t want to be returned to factory settings, apparently Android went into another charge cycle to see if she dreamed again, and Five has stormed off to the bridge. Two and Five are talking about keeping secrets and then Five says that alternate reality Android told her about Two changing her, she’s mentioned it before, and doesn’t know how or why she changed her. Five says they can’t reset her because it would be the same as killing her. Nyx and Three escort Android to her charging pod, but she doesn’t want to be reset. She says that if they decide to no longer have her as their android that she would like to be able to go her own way. Nyx says that even if she did she would eventually get picked up and rebooted, but Android says that there is somewhere she could go. Four was sharpening one of his swords when the power started being glitchy and suddenly Misaki appears and says that it’s time to pay for his sins.

Four has no idea what’s happening and the two begin to fight. She tells him that he can’t keep running, but he says that he’s going to go back to his home when he is ready. Then he hits a valve and creates a wall of steam, which Misaki uses to run farther into the ship. He finds her in the storage room and they continue fighting, Four is down and Misaki is insulting him and tell him that he is doing nothing as his people suffer. She calls him a coward and then stabs him in the stomach. Four is bleeding, when suddenly Misaki and the wound are gone. Two is walking down the same hallway and the power fluctuates again, but while Two can’t hear Five, Five can hear Two. The hallway goes dark and then it’s full of guards who say they are from Rook. As she is being held captive and walked toward an operation table, Six and Nyx are trying to get a hold of her after Five told them to go check on her. They find her, but Two is standing in the hallway freaking out and then when Six touches her she attacks him, thinking he’s a guard. No matter how much Nyx yells, she winds up having to knock her out. It takes Two a few seconds to get back up and she demands to know where Rook’s men are. They tell her that no one was there and when Four arrives and tells them about Misaki, Six says he thinks they were both hallucinating. While this discussion was happening, Three’s room had the lights flicker too. He’s cleaning his guns when he hears garbled sounds from his com, but not Six’s voice. Six takes Four’s sword from him and goes to find Three. The lights are still flickering in his room when Sarah appears. He keeps rubbing his eyes and insists she can’t be there because she’s dead, but she merely says she’s back.

Three says that he has to be dreaming and refuses to let her come anywhere near him. She says that it’s true that he saw her dead body, but that death isn’t what they think it is. Then she asks him if he’s happy to see her, even if he doesn’t understand why she’s there. With Android still on her charger, Two calls up her simulation. Six goes to Three’s room and asks if he’s seen or heard anything out of the ordinary and he says he hasn’t, mostly because Sarah says that if he says anything she’ll have to go away. She then says that she wants him to come with her. Six calls Five and says that he needs her to let him into Three’s room because he wants to make sure he’s okay. Three and Sarah begin kissing, she’s proving that she’s real. She says that she still feels pain because of him and even though he has pretended to be strong and not care, that she knows he is in pain. Five is working on hacking into his lock, but it will take a while. She remembers that he has a computer in his room and is going to hack the camera to see what is happening. Sarah puts a gun in Three’s hand and says that she would never hurt him, but that this would end the pain. Six starts yelling to Three to listen to him, that none of what he is seeing is real. Sarah is urging Three on, but Six manages to get in and tackle him before he can pull the trigger. Three insists that Sarah was there and Six has to explain what happened to Two and Four. Android is in her dream world again, but this time she and Victor are in the kitchen. She tells him that she knows this isn’t real, that she knows she is just on her charging platform. He tells her that he wondered how long this would last and says they should go get some air. The simulation arrives and says that Two, Three, and Four had hallucinations because of the neural link they have with the computer. She believes that Android is targeting them.

rook's men

Five says that Android is offline so she shouldn’t be able to do anything. The simulation says that her higher function should be turned off, but it isn’t. While she is charging she is directly linked to the ship and the simulation believes that she has uploaded a virus that will make the ship work with no input from the crew. Two says that the simulation doesn’t know that Android is behind this, but the simulation thinks that she is. Nyx then points out that this would mean Android is trying to take over the ship and the simulation says yes. She says that the hallucinations were a byproduct of the virus that she uploaded to target the neural link and protect her. Five is astonished that they believe this and goes to check the system. The simulation says that they can’t just pull Android off the charging unit, but suggests they shoot her in the head to stop the virus from finishing the alterations in a half hour. Two sent Four to delete the neural scans so that the link can’t find them. The issue is this means that none of them will ever be able to access their memories again. Three, Six, and Nyx head to where Android is, they are in charge of initiating whatever plan they decide on to stop the virus. In Android’s dream Victor is pointing out that reality is subjective, she says that she is highly objective. When he asks why she came back, she says she needs to know what’s wrong with her. Victor tells her that he is a voice in her head that knows that she should leave. The simulation tells Two that there is nothing that they can do to stop the virus and she calls down to Three to end her.

the simulation

Three has a gun poised at Android’s head and is trying to go through with it, before he can do anything Five comes in and tells Two not to do anything. Five tries to locate the simulation in the system, but can’t and insists that she thinks it’s been corrupted. The simulation says they have to do this, then she moves herself to where Three, Six, and Nyx are. She tells them to shoot Android, but Three leaves. Five’s work pays off and she learns that the simulation is really the virus. Android didn’t do anything, but as soon as she says that toxic gas starts filling the Raza. Six says they need to get to the Marauder. Two tells them to go and that she’ll deal with this. Android is at a party with Victor, when a news report starts airing that announces that the Raza has come under attack. Two is geared up and is going to pull the core. The simulation says that if Two does what she plans that the Raza will drift for thousands of years. Two then says that Android could fly the ship, even with the virus. In her dream Android says that she has to go. The virus has gotten into Two’s suit and made it impossible for her to move. Then Android appears and Two tells her exactly what they need to do. The simulation says if Android does this that she will kill Two, when she tells Two what the simulation said, Two tells her to save the ship. The simulation asks why she cares about the crew and as the system shuts down she tells Android that she will regret this. Two wakes up in the infirmary and Five tells her that according to Android she survived what should have been a lethal execution. The Raza is in rough shape, but Android is working on fixing it. Life support is back up, but the rest will take time. Android hasn’t reconnected her neural link because she wasn’t sure she should. Two tells her that of course she wants her to reconnect to the ship, but Android asks if she thinks the rest of the crew will agree. Two has her open a communication link between all of them and announces that she will tell Android to reinstate her neural link. Android says that she will do her best, but she warns them that she could make another mistake. Two says that she is their ship’s Android and that they need her. Four asks Android if he can use his computer and she says anything not within the system itself should work. He opens a file and it turns out that he did save his neural imprint from the computer.

That save neural link could mean we will be seeing a new emperor very soon, especially if the crew of the Raza helps Four take his throne back. Next week Syfy announced that there will be back to back episodes of Dark Matter so be ready for double the recaps and definitely double the drama.
