I haven’t hidden the fact that I’m a fan of Brytni Sarpy.
As a longtime viewer of General Hospital since the heyday of Luke and Laura’s wedding, I admit that the Spencers are my favorite Port Charles family. So, I welcomed a addition to the clan with a warm affection. However, what makes me love the character of Valerie Spencer is the realness given to her by her portrayer Brytni Sarpy.
Valerie is a girl who didn’t grow up in a traditional nuclear family with mom and dad. It was just she and mom Patricia. But the bond they shared and the values Valerie learned from her mother gave her integrity. So much so that Valerie experienced pangs of guilt over her affair with cousin Lulu’s husband Dante. Fortunately, the cousins were able to put the past behind them, mend their relationship and save their family.
Viewers of General Hospital and fans of Valerie are Sarpy’s other family. Brytni cares about her fans’ opinions and nurtures them through her performances. She wants to hear what they think so she actively participates in social media offering responses to inquiries on the show and her character. Brytni has also attended several General Hospital fan events, looking forward to meeting and interacting with her fans.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Brytni last year and hope for the chance to talk with her again. The theater trained actress takes her craft seriously and strives for perfection in her performances.
As an officer with the Port Charles Police Department, Valerie Spencer will be involved with cases that will allow Brytni screen time with characters Jordan, Nathan, Dante and Paul as she investigates. It is the hope that Sonny becomes the target of an investigation as I’d like to see powerhouse actor Maurice Bernard as Brytni’s scene partner. And a growing relationship with Curtis Ashford offers interesting possibilities with the chemistry between Sarpy and Donnell Turner (Curtis).
As you celebrate your birthday this September 21, I want to thank you Brytni for your contributions to General Hospital and wish you continued success and happiness.

I would like to see Valerie and Griffin get a chance as a couple. I wish we were getting Carly and Valerie’s scenes. I wish Valerie was on more and having scenes with other characters.
