Terror #1 is a frightening introduction to this anthology style comic full of tales of terror. This issue contains two stories, one full of scientific discovery and the other focused on just a bit of murder and mayhem. Neither story is as it appears as Balthazar, our host, presents them.
The first story, From the Cosmos, is focused on a team of scientists trying to transport a human being through space and time. While their first test immediately appears to have succeeded they learn that there are hidden risks. As they test the device they’ve created again the results turn deadly. On the Lam, the second story, shows us two criminals on the run after committing a murderous robbery. As they enjoy a night in a desert motel things begin to creep in and the night takes an unexpected turn.

Reading Terror reminded me of watching Tales from the Crypt. While the host has a bit more flesh on his bones, his introductions feel very reminiscent of the Crypt Keeper. From the Cosmos feels like an H.P. Lovecraft story and the ending is delightfully deadly. On the Lam completely surprised me, I didn’t anticipate the dialogue in the car to be so closely related to the plot. I really enjoyed reading both stories and I look forward to being terrified by more Terror in the future.
