Phil needs surgery on the Modern Family episode airing January 10.

The episode is titled “He Said, She Shed” Here is the synopsis from TV Guide: “Gloria has to rush Phil to the hospital for an emergency surgery after he experiences some intense stomach pains and rallies the entire family to be by his side.
