SPOILER WARNING: I’m talking about the whole damn thing here, including Milo, Peter and that ending. If you haven’t watched All Her Fault on Peacock yet, stop reading and go watch it first.
I knew All Her Fault looked like something I would like. Missing kid, everybody acting suspicious, secrets everywhere. Yep. Sign me up. What I did not expect was to binge the whole damn thing and spend half of it going, “Okay, it’s definitely them,” only to change my mind five minutes later.
I suspected everybody. Every time somebody looked weird, hesitated before answering a question or conveniently forgot to mention some giant piece of information, I was immediately like, OH, YOU DID SOMETHING. Then the show would turn around and make somebody else look guilty.
The whole thing starts with Marissa going to pick up Milo after a playdate and finding out he was never where she thought he was.
Nope. Absolutely not.
As a parent, that setup alone is horrifying. You go to pick up your child and some woman opens the door basically saying, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I would have lost my damn mind.
So right away I was invested in finding Milo, but the more we learned about everybody around Marissa, the more obvious it became that this was not just a simple kidnapping story. Everybody had secrets. And I mean EVERYBODY.
Sarah Snook was fantastic because you could feel Marissa trying to keep herself together while everything around her kept getting worse. Dakota Fanning was great too, and I loved watching all these relationships start cracking once people began finding out what everyone else had been hiding.
But nothing prepared me for Peter.
Because WHAT THE HELL, PETER?
Once the show finally gets into what happened years earlier, everything changes. Peter’s baby died in the crash, and Peter took the other baby.
Milo.
WAIT. WHAT?!
I had to sit with that one for a second. Because suddenly this is not just about someone taking Milo now. We find out Peter had already taken him once before, when he was a baby, after losing his own child in that crash.
And Peter has known the truth this entire time.
The man built their whole family around a lie. A HUGE lie. And Marissa had no idea.
That was the twist that made me mentally go back through the entire show and start looking at everything differently. Because Peter knew. Every single day, he knew.
Meanwhile Marissa is living her life thinking this is her child, this is her family, this is her husband, and this whole giant secret has been sitting underneath all of it.
Sir. What the fuck.
That is the kind of twist I love, though. Not some random person popping up in the last episode that we have never seen before. It changes everything we already watched.
And somehow the show still was not done with me.
Then Detective Alcaras starts putting it together, and I was watching him like…you know.
YOU KNOW.
He realizes what Peter did. He understands the truth about Milo. And then he leaves it alone.
Now normally my criminal justice brain would be screaming. You cannot just discover something like that and go, “Eh, never mind.”
But I understood him.
And that surprised me.
Because by that point, what exactly are you supposed to do? Milo is a little boy. None of this is his fault. Marissa didn’t know. Tearing his life apart now does not bring Peter’s baby back and it does not undo what Peter did.
So when Alcaras knows and basically decides he is not going to destroy Milo’s life over it, I got it. I really did.
And THEN we get Marissa.
That ending.
THAT. ENDING.
She knows the truth now too. She knows exactly what Peter did, and she has to decide what happens next.
I was sitting there waiting for the show to completely ruin the ending because shows do that all the time. They give you seven great episodes and then suddenly everybody starts behaving like an idiot in the finale.
Not this one.
I absolutely loved what Marissa did.
Loved it.
I’m not saying it was neat. I’m definitely not saying everybody made legally correct decisions. But emotionally?
Yep. I was completely on board.
Because by the end, it really came down to Milo. The adults created this entire disaster. They lied, hid things, made horrible choices and dragged everybody else into it.
Milo did nothing.
And I loved that the ending understood that.
It didn’t give me some big cheesy speech about justice or forgiveness. It didn’t try to pretend anything that happened was okay. It just let these characters make messy, human choices.
And apparently that is exactly what I wanted because when the credits rolled I sat there thinking…
That might be the best ending I have ever seen.
Seriously.
I loved the whole series, but the ending is what did it for me. I love when a show can completely surprise me without making me feel like I got cheated.
All Her Fault kept giving me new information, made me suspicious of damn near everybody, hit me with that Peter reveal and then somehow still managed to stick the landing.
That does not happen nearly enough.
So yes, I absolutely loved All Her Fault.
And Peter?
We need to talk, sir.
