The Intern Review

The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, comes out on blu-ray and dvd on Tuesday and I thought I’d give it a quick review for you guys. The preview I saw for it looked funny, but when it was in theaters the one near me didn’t have it for very long and I missed out on being able to see it until much later. If you want something heartwarming and cute to watch then definitely check out the rest of this review.

I am a huge fan of the movie The Devil Wears Prada and this movie instantly reminded me of that one. The Intern though is like taking that movie and flipping it on its head. De Niro plays a retired 70 year old, who in the opening monologue reveals that he is widowed and is looking for something to do with his time. He wants to feel like he is part of something  again. An online company, run by Hathaway’s character, is hiring senior interns to make them look more involved and sort of charitable. De Niro gets hired to be Hathaway’s personal intern and while she takes a while to warm up to him, the two becomes close friends.

De Niro’s character Ben is so sweet throughout the entire movie. He wants to help everyone around him at the company and he grows very attached to Jules, Anne Hathaway. Seriously the whole movie is full of adorable feels. I normally don’t cry during movies, but things just kept happening in this movie that made me tear up. Good tears, not bad, at least most of the time. There is something sort of sad that happens, but overall the movie is just so cute and sweet. De Niro and Hathaway are great together and they really seem to be playing off of each other well.

I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for something cute to watch that will just make you feel happy, definitely check it out if you liked The Devil Wears Prada.
