Today would have been the 84th birthday of Music Legend Johnny Cash.
Johhny Cash was a singer/songwriter who’s musical style was a mix of many genres country, folk, rock blues and gospel. He was inducted into the Country, Rock and Roll and Gospels Hall of Fame for his musical achievements. He is still one of the most best selling artists of all-time who’s sound influenced musical artists during and after his lifetime.
He is best remembered for the songs Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire and Walk the Line and recorded several tunes with his wife, June Carter Cash, who was a talented musician in her own right.
The first time I heard Johnny Cash’s voice, I was mesmerized by the emotional depth of the pain and passion in his songs. Cash’s music remains a favorite on my ipod, and I enjoyed Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of Cash in the film Walk the Line.
Additionally, Johnny Cash made an appearance in an episode of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and played John Brown in my favorite movie, the television miniseries North and South.
Johnny Cash will never be forgotten for his musical contributions.
