Last night’s episode of Lucifer was full of daddy issues, and not just Lucifer’s. We got a tasty bit of murder, simmered with a whole lot of parental pressure, and a dash of Malcolm related madness. Now let’s get to the recap.
We start with a very sexy strawberry seduction, that Lucifer cuts short when the woman nibbling on his forbidden fruit mentions his dear old dad. Things get even worse for our delightful devil when he learns that his favorite Mexican restaurant owner, Javier, is dead. While Chloe wants to investigate, Lucifer is more concerned with finding the corpse’s cookbook. During their interviews with Javier’s staff, who all call him Pops, we learn he was a tough man to work with, but they all really cared for him. It also turns out that his actual son just came back to town , which seems very suspicious to Lucifer.

While he’s off investigating, Maze is working on herself and we find her meeting with Dr. Linda. Apparently our demon of delight has the power to pick her therapist, even if her therapist isn’t sure they should see each other. Maze says she needs to learn how to cope with her new environment and wants to try and be normal. Dr. Linda is willing to give her advice, though she turns down the offer of sexy times for therapy times.

Now Lucifer might be coping with his daddy issues, but Chloe finds herself thrown into some mama drama. Her mom shows up in town and things get very tense. Oh and Lucifer loses one of his fancy white shirts when the sous chef at Javier’s restaurant lets loose all her bloody secrets, well really just blood that gets all over him. This case gets crazy with drugs, a bunch of sneaky misdirection from the murderer, and a very fiery resolution. Seriously, deep fat fryer fire, you have to see it to believe it.

Maze finally gets to meet Trixie when the ever adorable little lady decides to take a trip to Lux to see Lucifer. Even though he isn’t there, she winds up bonding with Maze over drinks. Yeah, I don’t think Hell has a legal drinking age, or our demon bartender just doesn’t care whether Trixie has alcohol or not. She does add a cherry in an attempt to make it a Shirley Temple. Maze winds up going back to Dr. Linda to tell her about making a friend, which leads her to actually ask the therapist if she wants to go for a drink. She wants to make friends, she really does, even if she does want to go back to Hell.

On the Malcolm front, we see him revealing his plan to kill Lucifer to Detective Douche, all while he stuffs his face with an extra greasy burger. That guy is always eating, is he on the hell fire diet or something? Eat whatever you want and the flames will burn it off. Even though Dan doesn’t like Lucifer something super violent and really sad happens. This resulted in me tweeting, Douche No!!!!!, if that’s any warning. Also Malcolm did something awful to Chloe in the process, which leads her to drunkenly visit Lucifer at the very end of the episode.

You can find the full episode on FoxNOW or on Hulu, you have until April 11th to get caught up. Sigh, only three episodes left and a hiatus. What will I do without Lucifer?!
