Solitude is a blessing and a curse. In those quiet moments, we give ourselves permission to be vulnerable. We don’t need to mold ourselves into an acceptable public persona. We are who we are. When we are vulnerable, we bare our souls. It is scary. Yet, purity also comes from such moments.
That is what I find most inspiring about Brian Buckley Band’s music. The lyrics and melodies are raw and authentic, rich and yes, emotionally vulnerable. The songs comfort the listener because they speak directly to your heart.
I first discovered Brian Buckley Band when Jared and Genevieve Padalecki did a music video for the song “I am Human.” Since I am a big fan of Jared Padalecki, I eagerly watched the video. The words and music resonated with me. I had to learn more about this incredible band.
Brian Buckley Band is a Los Angeles based band comprised of lead vocalist Brian Buckley, Mike McGraw (Vocals/Guitar), Albert Estiamba, Jr. (Vocals/Drums) and Krishnan Swaninathan (Bass). The Brian Buckley Band’s studio albums include: For Her, Hysterical Blindness, Without Injuring Eternity and Welcome to the Heart of the City.
Soulful strains are a hallmark of Brain Buckley Band. The songs don’t apologize for their distinctive emotive quality. When you listen to the music, you feel nostalgic almost as if you are transported back to a time when you felt safe and secure. In addition, there is vulnerability, as I noted above, that welcomes you to bare your soul and see the purity of you. “For Her” is one of my favorites. “For Her” has almost a bluesy texture. It is poignant: “For Her” , with its strong vocals, speaks to loss and regret, yet there is an undertone of hope, too.
Brian Buckley Band understands the listener and as such, cultivates a bond with its audience.
I am looking forward to the day when I can see Brian Buckley Band perform live. I will gladly forsake solitude for the incredible experience of seeing this talented and special band in its element of live performance.
