@OrphanBlack Recap: From Instinct to Rational Control from @kleffnotes

This season of Orphan Black feels like the most fast paced season so far. Each episode flies by and so much new information is being revealed. With so much going on here’s a recap to help you out.

This episode was the first to give us an insight into MK’s life. We got to see how she gets ready in the morning and what her research into Dyad, Neolution, and Top Side is like. There was also a glimpse at her ritualized behavior in connection to another clone. MK  blows out a candle when she comes across Ferdinand’s name while researching, fire is going to be pretty important over the course of this episode. We also get to see Ferdinand in the safe house with Sarah and Mrs. S, and Benjamin is finally back, and learn he makes a very tasty frittata. Post murder breakfast is important I guess. Felix is there and finally learns about the worm, and finds himself drawn into a scheme with Alison during the family meeting.

Donnie and Helena have a moment while she was making a baby collage, just pictures of babies and not actual babies. Helena loves babies far to much to hurt them ever. He tells her that he and Alison tried fertility treatments before they adopted and that while Helena should be happy that Alison is upset that she can’t have her own children. When Donnie leaves Helena looks crushed that she could be hurting her sister with her happiness. Alison was been spending time with Sarah Stubbs in a cafe, which leads to some impromptu Broadway singing, and after Sarah leaves Alison is confronted by Trina, the pregnant neolutionist Beth talked to, who thinks she’s Beth. Trina tells her she thought she was done investigating this stuff and that she needs to leave it alone. During the confrontation she mentions an IVF clinic, which is why Alison calls Sarah, clone Sarah not singing Sarah.

Felix finds himself in Donnie and Alison’s minivan with tremendously well prepared information packets about the clinic and the men have an appointment in the clinic. Yes, Donnie and Felix are pretending to be a couple in order to get information. Before the appointment they both have to provide a sperm sample, which creates the funniest Donnie and Alison scene in the history of the show. Air Italia is currently my favorite thing ever. I just want to rewatch it every day until the new episode next week. While the boys are in the clinic, Alison slyly confronts a woman name Portia, who had been going though fertility treatments and was considering adoption during the same time that Donnie and Alison were. Donnie told Alison that Portia was at least five to six months pregnant. While she begins her conversation by pretending to be upset about not being able to get IVF, when Alison says that she wants to have her own baby her eyes well with tears. She really is upset by the fact that Helena is pregnant and she wasn’t able to have her own child. Portia reveals that there is a special program that she can use to ensure she gets pregnant. Donnie says he knows about this treatment to the doctor at the clinic and he and Felix get a packet of information.

Cosima and Scott have been hard at work dealing with Leekie’s head and the robot worm inside of his face. They learn that the worm has been feeding off of Leekie and that it glows, which is definitely not good. The worm can apparently change your DNA and is really not good for Sarah. Helena has also been coping with what Donnie told her about Alison. She hplds a small burial service for the babies in her nitrogen tank, no one told her she would need to replenish the tank to keep them frozen. As she talks to them she promises to tell the twins inside of her about the babies that didn’t survive. Helena then takes all of her things and says goodbye to the Hendrix home. I hope she’s okay, I’m worried she thinks the others don’t want her around anymore. Rachel and her mother have been debating how to handle Charlotte’s illness and they decide not to treat her for the sake of the future. Susan also reveals that they learned Rachel contacted Ferdinand.

Sarah has been trying to meet with MK, but she winds up working with Dizzy to find out why MK refuses to meet with her after learning that Ferdinand was her source for information on Rachel. Dizzy and Sarah wind up breaking into trailer and finding out that she was close to another clone named Nikki, and Sarah realizes she was connected to the terrible events at Helsinki. With her skills MK has lured Ferdinand to Beth’s home to live out her revenge fantasy. She shows him a presentation of everything she knows about him and prepares to set him on fire, when Sarah runs in. Sarah tells MK that they need to keep Ferdinand alive, but she doesn’t care. After forcing Ferdinand to let her sign over his money to her accounts, she leaves. Sarah calls in Mrs. S, who thinks she knows how to deactivate the bomb. Ferdinand lives, but things are definitely not okay in clone club.

The preview of next week showed Cosima meeting with Susan and the return of Krystal. I’m excited to see how all of that goes, especially because it looks like Donnie has to run clone interference between the two of them.
