Indie films continue to occupy an important place in the entertainment industry for their willingness to tell a story that addresses raw human emotion in powerful ways. These films often must get their message to audiences without the benefit of significant financial resources to aid in the production of their films. Yet, they are artistic masterpieces weaving messages of strength, determination and compassion. One short indie film, Ganjy, is set to deliver emotional punches.
Written and directed by Ben Ratner and starring Ratner, Alexs Paunovic, Zak Santiago, Donny Lucas and Jennifer Spense, Ganjy is the story of an aging, former boxer who suffers from dementia puglistica and has fallen upon hard times living alone in a motel on skid row. Three of his old friends, former boxers themselves, come to his aid and are determined to help him find a better place to live.
Ganjy speaks to the themes of friendship, loyalty, compassion, resiliency and hope. These are universal themes that for which everyone can easily identify.
