After getting D’Avin back, Dutch is dealing with the fact that he remembers seeing her in a memory of Arkyn. The trio have a lot to work on now that they’re back together, Team Awesome Force has to meet with their big bosses to get reinstated, but they are caught off guard by Turin. Khlyen and his people are all out, but it still takes a bit of doing to get our group back into Old Town.
After getting the only warrant they can, everyone is Westerley bound, but the warrant can only do so much. There are some pretty intense security parameters, including a super crazy wall of digital doom. Yeah, it’s totally cool until it reveals that Pree was a warlord and it kind of has a bit of a vendetta about that. Everyone wakes up trussed up to a ceiling and in walks Jelco, who lets everyone come with him, except Pree. A bomber was recently shot down in Old Town and they need to retrieve eight prisoners from Blue Unit who escaped afterward. Old Town is falling apart, but the Royale is doing remarkably well. Dutch challenges the new barman to a brawl, if she wins Pree gets it back. As the fight goes down Johnny scans for prisoners. They find one prisoner and after that news Dutch ends the fight very quickly. The man they’re trying to take in kills himself to protect Tyman, who he thinks is the only chance anyone has left against The Company. The rest of the prisoners are hiding out in the prison, waiting for the Killjoys to find them. When they get to Westhole they find weird mummified bodies and are suddenly facing off with a man in a hazmat suit.

Well, I was expecting a monster, but it’s just a guy named Carl. He says a ship crashed, he followed the handbook, and pushed the red button. Yeah, that button did some pretty crazy stuff. Tyman survived and came back to take all the weapons and a tank of the gas from the creepy red button system. Jelco insists that they need to do what he wants or they aren’t going to make it out of Old Town. Our Killjoys find Pawter, who is doing her doctorly duty without any supplies. They need her to check out one of the corpses and she rattles off a bunch of chemical terms and it turns out the stuff causes immediate desiccation and then you die. Hills is holed up and he knows exactly what the chemical is. He also gives them some insight into Jelco and his destructive work before his promotion. Alvis is hiding out too, but is working to use himself as bait to get supplies for Pawter. It turns out that Alvis knows where Tyman is hiding out, but when they go to talk to him they get a bit of a dusty welcoming gift.

Tyman is willing to meet with Alvis and Dutch, but no one else. D’Avin is on high alert and Johnny gets Lucy prepped with tunnel maps. It turns out that Tyman is giving the miners’ families a place to live off of the street. He says that he will make a deal with Dutch, Tyman wants everyone to be let go, in exchange for himself. Before she can do anything Tyman is shot down by a Company drone, but Dutch manages to get the gas out with Alvis. As the Killjoys run off, Pawter and Hills talk about what they should do. Hills is willing to put himself at risk in order to get her to a phone so that she can talk to her mother. If they can get her to call the Families they might have a chance. Dutch yells at Jelco for killing Tyman, but he doesn’t handle her disagreeing with his choices well. He announces to Old Town that he will give anyone safe passage to Leith if they bring him the tank of gas and Dutch, dead or alive. Yep, he’s a great guy that Jelco.

Pree hides them in the Royale, but they find out that they’ve been tagged. D’Avin, Johnny, and Dutch get Pree to trash the trackers and sneak them out through the tunnels. He refuses to come with them as they try and make a break for it. Pawter and Hills go to meet with Jelco, but he refuses to let her call her mother or to give her a ship to Qresh. Jelco shows his displeasure for Hills actions by shooting him in the head, but he then refuses to let Pawter leave. She starts checking the monitors, but we jump back to Alvis and the Killjoys. Alvis locks himself in a room that connects directly to Spring Hill and hooks the desiccation gas up. As he flips the switch Johnny yells that Pawter and Hills are up there and Alvis tries to reverse the flow, which winds up exposing him to the gas. D’Avin grabs a gas mask, Carl’s gift, and rushes into the room. It’s full of water and he dunks Alvis under in an attempt to get enough water into his system to offset the reaction from the gas. When they pull him up he isn’t breathing, but all three Killjoys start CPR. After a few minutes Alvis arches his body and begins coughing up water. He might be alive, but Dutch did slap him for his decision with the gas.

The Killjoys made their way to Jelco and give him his empty can back. He reveals that he is starving out the rebellion so that they will realize that they need The Company. Pawter comes in and says that there is a lot that she can do from here, she and Johnny also kiss. Oh very sneaky, the kiss actually passed off a radio so that the Killjoys can be in constant contact with Pawter. Pree is back as the rightful owner of his bar and when the injured former squatting owner returns Pree offers to give him free stuff, but then we learn something else. Pree stabs the man in the hand for trying to take the bar back and apparently our lovable bartender did something pretty crazy to get the Royale in the first place. Dutch and Alvis are talking about what happened and she asks him to come with them to Arkyn. When he asks what she’s looking for she tells him that she’s on a search for truth and thinks that he’d be able to help her. As they are flying Lucy suddenly starts flying them back to Westerley and no matter what they do she won’t stop. When they land they are met by Turin. He wants their help to figure out what is going on with Level Six and Arkyn. He’s been putting things together for a while and he wants them all to work together to figure out who is using them.
