When there is a character that sparks passion among viewers, it’s a testament to not only the writing but the actor.

Alycia Debnam-Carey is one of those actors.  Fans of The CW’s The 100 fell in love with her strong portrayal of Lexa. As the Commander of The Grounders, Lexa was a forced to be reckon with.  She was powerful and didn’t back down from a fight.

When Lexa met Clarke Griffin, one of the teens sent from The Ark in the sky to determine if the Earth was habitable, the two developed a respect for each other’s roles as leaders who would do whatever it takes to protect their people.  That respect turned into an attraction.  Dubbed by shipping fans as Clexa, this pairing stirred strong emotions within The 100 fandom.

For the LGBT community, Clexa was a symbol of strength.  However, when Lexa was killed off the backlash due to her death was equally strong as many were adamant in their belief that the character deserved better. Alycia Debham-Carey took Lexa from the page to the screen and made her unforgettable.

Debnam-Carey continues to impress in her new role as Alicia on Fear The Walking Dead.  Here is an performer to watch.

On this July 20, your birthday, I wish you continued success and happiness with your career.
