Marvel has also been busy at SDCC this year. There are not as many trailers as DC, but that is because many of the movies, sadly, do not come out until 2018. Read below to find out all about them though.
First let’s talk about Doctor Strange. This is a movie I was never too sure about as I never got into the character much in the comics. He does have some amazing powers and the trailer looks to be exploring those to the fullest.
As stated before it looks like the movie is going all out on special effects to showcase Doctor Strange’s power set. It looks really good so far, even if the story is a bit cliched. Guy loses way (check), finds it more than likely using ancient arts from another culture (check), finds out he is the one or super awesome at it (check), meets a bad guy that he has to take down that no one else can (check). Even with the cliched plot, the movie still looks good and there isn’t nearly as long of a wait to see it like most of the other Marvel movies coming up. You can go to the theaters and see it this November 4th.
Next up is Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 2. Sadly there is no trailer on this one yet as they have not started filming, but I have found an insider who spilled the beans about this one from inside SDCC.
I like seeing that this movie is picking up close from where the last left off. It will make for good movie marathoning later on. They are also continuing the mystery around Star Lord’s father who now has a name and actor behind it per the video. It will be really interesting to see how they bring this all together. Honestly though, aren’t we all just excited to see more Rocket and Groot?
Next up isn’t a movie, but a new show being produced by FX and Marvel Entertainment. It’s called Legion. I hadn’t heard about this one being made and all superhero shows are a big hit or a big miss with TV audiences.
I know who David is from the Marvel universe, suffuse to say he is the son of someone very important, although I won’t spoil who. He is a very strong mutant, perhaps the strongest, but his powers cannot be easily contained and so his mind has fractured and he has different personalities and each one controls a bit of his power. As from the video it looks like his love interest has gone missing and the police are blaming him. Will they and David be able to figure out what has really happened? I have to admit I’m intrigued and will definitely be giving this a watch to see how it turns out. It should premiere in early April of 2017.
Next up is Thor: Ragnarok. Sadly there is no trailer for this one either as it has just started filming in Australia, but I have found another insiders look of people who are at SDCC and have told what was shown for the movie so far.
Doesn’t that logo look like some 80’s Tron font? You’re trying too hard Marvel! Other than that the premise of this movie looks so much more interesting than Dark World was. Yeah I said it. I mean the Hulk is in it and he and Thor may have to fight? Awesome! I’m sure Loki may also make an appearance and I can’t wait to see how that goes as he is one of my favorite Marvel villains. I will be keeping an eye out on this one and post any news or trailers as they come along.
Next we have another TV show from Marvel. This time the popular Agent’s of SHIELD. This will be the shows fourth season and it keeps getting better and better.
The trailer is short and to the point. Ghost Rider is coming to SHIELD and you know he is going to mess everything up. The old Nic Cage movie about did me in on this character, but I’m willing to give it another chance for this great show. We will be able to see how it turns out soon as this season will premiere on September 20th.
Last up is Black Panther. Sadly there is no trailer on this one either, but we did get a lot of great information from SDCC about it. Marvel also released this Marvel Live! with Chadwick Boseman yesterday.
There has been news about the 2018 movie. We have two cast members confirmed. Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave, Star Wars) and Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead). That is some serious lady talent! There are also rumors that Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes) and Andy Serkis may also be in the cast. They have not been confirmed though. I hope they are in it thought as they are both huge talents and I’ll admit it, give me more Bucky Barnes.
That’s it so far from SDCC for Marvel. Did you have a favorite or want to know more about an upcoming project? Tell us below and make sure to give us a follow here and on twitter, @thenerdygirlexp and my personal one, @quietlikeastorm. Look out later for my Marvel Netflix shows article as well.
