CBS The Inspectors aired it’s Season 2 Premiere in an episode that focused on the underlying theme on the series: protecting one’s family. On this show, family is not just the one we’re born into but your friends and work family too.

This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen the Season 2 Premiere episode titled “Veronica Returns,” please do not continue reading.

The episode opens with a postal robbery in action.  The suspects get away with cash as well as mail and money orders. Amanda (Jessica Lundy) and Mitch (Terry Serpico) learn that this is just one in a series that has been happening all across town.

Preston (Bret Green) is awaken by his alarm. He gets out of bed and walks to grab his headphones that goes out on a morning run.  Did he regain the use of his legs over the summer?  No. Unfortunately, he was dreaming.  Preston tells Noah (Harrison Knight) about his dream.  He has been having dreams of walking again since having a feeling in his legs. But Preston knows that in order to walk again it will require a lot of physical therapy. But he is determined and not afraid of hard work to make his dream coming true.  Speaking of dreams, his other one is a romance with Veronica. Noah asks whether he’s heard from her. Preston tells him that he texted her.  And who should walk into the University Grill at that moment? It’s Veronica, back from her summer abroad in Italy.  She’s looks absolutely beautiful.

Veronica shares more photos (then the ones from social media) of her trip and tells Noah and Preston she will be auditioning for a spot on the campus news show. She and Preston share a lingering hug. It’s obvious they missed each other.

While reviewing the surveillance footage, Amanda and Mitch notice two things: one of the suspects is a woman and that she sports a distinctive tattoo on the back of her neck.  Searching the database finds a match of a female inmate Alicia Phelps (Rachael Thompson) at Westgate.  Amanda and Mitch go to the prison and question the prisoner who is being released in a week. She tells them that she doesn’t want to do anything to jeopardize her release.

Noah films Veronica’s audition.  He also asks whether she missed Preston while she was in Italy. Of course she did, what did Preston say about her?  They get back to the audition filming with Noah making a suggestion “Lose the ciao.”

Amanda and Mitch get a lead on the case when one of the money orders is cashed locally.  They track down the perpetrators and arrest them.  The female suspect’s phone calls are traced back to Alicia.

No sooner then the woman breathes free air upon her release, Amanda and Mitch arrive. She is annoyed she was ratted out and her foolproof plan will land her back behind bars after she’s processed.

Noah shows Preston the Veronica’s audition tape.  He hears her admitting she missed him.  ‘We were like the Three Musketeers Snap, Crackle and Plop,” Noah says. Later, Preston and Veronica finally talk about their feelings and admit their concerns that if they pursue a relationship and it goes badly, what happens to their friendship.

But Preston thinks about a conversation he had with his father about how you know you’ve found the right person after the first kiss.

Are Preston and Veronica right for each other? We’ll have to keep watching Season 2 of CBS The Inspectors to find out.
