Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck via @erinwise82 @imcorinnemec @TonyTodd54

When you interview someone and they happen to mention a movie they starred in, it kind of gets stuck in your head. This being one of those movies mentioned, I felt the urge to watch it. Films like this, show you just how talented an actor really is.

Based on a true story, this movie follows mass murderer Richard Speck, who raped and brutally murdered eight nursing students from South Chicago Community Hospital in 1966. A ninth victim was also taken hostage but she managed to hide under a bed, unnoticed, during the whole ordeal. The movie stars Corin Nemec as Speck, Tony Todd as Captain Dunning, and Andrew Divoff as Detective Whitaker.

Now, let me say this is one of those types of movies I typically don’t watch. Main reason, when you have an actor such as Corin Nemec, when they take on a character, they really take on the character. Being that I like him, roles like this can really creep me out. You get what I mean?

Nemec, donning a Southern accent, stepped up to the plate. He lead us down the dark and twisted path of this notorious killer. Starting in Texas, with petty crime, to skipping town and heading to Chicago, where his crime spree continued and got more intense. The rapes and murders were shown through a series of flashbacks throughout the movie. For some pretty gruesome, sick, disturbing scenes, it was more tastefully done than the typical killer films I’ve seen. Showing you in a way that you know what happened but not going completely out of control. Speck was completely deranged. Taking these poor young woman, one by one, raping them, stabbing, shooting, strangling them. Impressively, a ninth victim hid under a bed, while this sick bastard raped a killed her friend on the bed above her. Never making a sound. The only one to survive. Brave girl.

What really gets me with this movie, is how the Captain wanted this case closed s quickly as 3 days, as well as not wanting it leaked to the public, as he had race and politics to deal with. He didn’t want to have to deal with the hysteria a mass murderer would cause. Unfortunately for the detective, he knew one of the girl’s parents, so it was really personal for him. This cat Speck, had absolutely no remorse whatsoever for these women. I really felt for this cop, especially with him getting so close to Speck a couple of times.

I doubt this cop would have ever given up looking for Speck, but I also feel like had Speck not tried to commit suicide, he would have gotten away with it. Sad but that’s how I feel. With as insane as this dude was a really cannot understand how he was competent enough to stand trial, however, prison was exactly what he deserved. That is until you see just how much fun he was having up in there. Sex, drugs, etc…really messed up.

Seriously, hats off to Corin Nemec for this incredible performance of this truly evil, sadistic, insane, chain smoking killer.
