Wishing #GH ‘s Laura Wright (Carly) Happy Birthday via @stacyamiller85 @lldubs @GeneralHospital #GeneralHospital

September 11 is actress Laura Wright’s birthday.

Fans of the long running daytime drama General Hospital know Laura for her Emmy winner portrayal of Carly Corinthos.

The first time I saw Laura Wright was on the now defunct ABC daytime drama Loving. Then known as Laura Sisk, she played Ally Rescott. From her first scene, I knew this soap newbie had a presence and talent that would ensure her a successful acting career.

She next gave an unforgettable turn as Cassie Layne Winslow on Guiding Light.

When I learned that Laura had been recast to play General Hospital’s Carly, a role created by Sarah Joy Brown who went on to play Claudia and Tamara Braun (currently General Hospital’s Dr. Kim Nero), I was both excited and intrigued to see what she would bring to the character. Would she still have Carly’s fire? Would her chemistry with Steve Burton (Jason) and Maurice Benard (Sonny) be just as strong as her predecessors? Yes, yes, triple yes and more. Laura maintained everything we loved about Caroline Lee Benson Corinthos, but added her own spark to the role. And Laura Wright has a well deserved Daytime Emmy Award for playing Carly.

But one of the best things about Laura Wright is she appears down to earth and hasn’t let fame go to her head. She tweets constantly about how grateful she is for her life, family, job and current boyfriend Wes Ramsey (Peter, General Hospital). She appreciates her fans and will show that appreciation by responding to tweets.

So on this your birthday Laura, I wish you continued success with her career and much happiness.
