Mad Cave Studios has been creating some great content recently and their most recent release Bountiful Garden is a series that immediately pulled me in. I did get early access to this comic, but due to some time issues on my part I only recently got a chance to read it. This works out well for readers though as the first issue of this series is out now for everyone.
The main plot of the series is that it is the year 2200 and a team of teenage scientists have been chosen for a terraforming mission on a distant planet. As the best and brightest of their generation the crew of 6 are placed in cryostasis and are not expected to be woken up until they make it to the planet they are expected to prepare for life. They though are woken up ten years early when they unexpectedly land on a strange planet. They must figure out why they have landed and if this was merely a fluke event. As they split into two parties to explore the unknown planet they come into contact with someone that seems to not only have attacked their ship, but also their minds.
The crew of 6 I mentioned is made up of Jonas the architect, Marnie the botanist, Jane the biologist, Anya and Kamari the engineers, and Kurt the security detail. I love a read that involves futuristic worlds and travel and I was very intrigued by the all teen cast. The urgency at the start of this first issue sets you up immediately for the drama that the 6 are found in. They don’t know exactly what is happening and they have to figure out what to do next and what to do to ensure their survival. I really loved the art and the colors in this comic, which I really felt added to the story. If you love sci-fi reads you can check out Bountiful Garden #1 today.
