Baby Vamps, Coffin Naps, and Vogueing in the Lobby

AHS: Hotel’s episode Chutes and Ladders was the longest non-two parter episode of any season of American Horror Story EVER. That’s not official, but I think an hour and forty minutes is the longest any episode has been that I’ve watched on television. It was a marathon of information, character reveals, and plot set-ups. It felt like I was cramming for an AHS exam while watching the episode. All the info dumping! I’m not complaining about all the information, but there was just a lot going on in this episode. I kind of wish it had been divided up into two episodes, just so I would have had more time to process everything. Here’s my best possible recap and review of the show, I’m sorry if I miss anything, but there was just so much in there this week that I don’t know if I retained it all. Pump, Pump, Pump It Up, In the Pumpkin Patch

Angels peeing vodka and red bull, yes, that’s a thing and Chanel wants it in her pumpkin patch. Scream Queens started off their second Halloween episode, Pumpkin Patch, with some crazy rich partying planning. I really want to know if you can actually put out a fire with champagne, though I don’t want to test that myself. Someone call Myth Busters! Then we got a glimpse of the Chanels costume plans, I mean bereaved wives of assassinated US presidents is super niche, but super limited options there. I would totally claim Mary Todd Lincoln, don’t know why you’re so upset with that option Five, but to each her own. I think this was also the first night I saw the title sequence for the show, I don’t know if this was new and I’ve just accidentally skipped it during my dvr watching, but it was pretty cool. The Marvelously Made Middleman

After reading Erin’s article “The Magical Creature David Anders” I started thinking about the character Anders played on Alias. While I didn’t watch the show something about the character’s description sounded familiar. During the summer my library hosted a live chat/interview with Javier Grillo-Marxuach and he talked to us about his work as a screen writer and the different shows he’s worked for. At one point he mentioned creating a character for Alias that was only going to be in one episode, but to his surprise, especially since he wasn’t writing for the show anymore, kept appearing in episodes. Once I started thinking about Grillo-Marxuach I realized that I had the perfect topic for an article. Today I am going to share the good news about The Middleman with all of you. Better Call Housekeeping, This Is Going to Get Messy

American Horror Story: Hotel has finally arrived and the extra long pilot episode, Checking In, did not disappoint. Two lovely Swedish tourists arrive at The Hotel Cortez and meet with the scariest thing you can ever find in a mattress, and I’m not talking bedbugs. Pop goes the Mattress Man and out run our girls! Only problem, once you check-in, there’s no checking out. With a crazy intense introduction to the Hotel, I’m going to keep it capitalized since it’s the title of the season, we jump to a graphic murder scene. Imagine the murderer from the movie Seven liked reading Fifty Shades of Gray in his down time and you’ve got the general idea. Continue reading “Better Call Housekeeping, This Is Going to Get Messy”

A Little Trip to The Freak Show Before You Check In

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Step right up and see the wonders of Fraulein Elsa’s Cabinet of Curiosities! It will amaze and astound you like nothing you’ve ever seen before, well unless you’ve already seen this season. Tonight is the premiere episode of the fifth season of American Horror Story and I thought before we check into Hotel with Lady Gaga that we should take in a bit of the old Freak Show, especially since the series just came out on dvd and blu-ray this week. Sorority Sisters, Red Devils, and A Quick Check-In to Hotel

This Tuesday the episode of Scream Queens, Chainsaw, aired on Fox. I really wish this show weren’t on at the exact same time as iZombie because I know a lot of iZombie fans are really interested in it. I guess this is why dvr and the internet exist. Reader beware you’re in for some spoilers. Continue reading “Sorority Sisters, Red Devils, and A Quick Check-In to Hotel”
