@StitchersTV Recap: Red Eye from @kleffnotes

You’ve heard of snakes on a plane, but have you heard of stitches on a plane? I bet not! This week the Stitch Squad found themselves dealing with a dozen murders in a dozy of a mystery that took place on a plane landing at LAX. For no obvious reason 12 people just stopped being alive and this kind of case is something only the lab can handle.

Before we get to the stitches, Kirsten has finally contacted her half sister, Ivy Brown. The only problem is that once she identifies herself Ivy refuses to have anything to do with her and hangs up. Not the best start on the path of connecting with a family member, but this isn’t the end of Ivy for this episode. At Cameron’s we find him and Nina enjoying some together time in the bedroom. Nina is sporting a lovely lacy bra, the wardrobe department for this show does an amazing job by the way. Cameron tears himself away to get to the lab, but Nina tries her best to get him to stay at home. Sadly duty calls and that’s when we learn about the mysterious murders in the sky. With limited time the crew picks 6 of the 12 victims to stitch into, which has everyone a bit worried about how Kirsten will handle everything. She insist she can do it and the stitching marathon begins.

The first thing that Kirsten notices in all the stitches is that the lights in the plane flashed before everyone died. She also notices that all the memories stop in exactly the same place, which means all 12 victims died simultaneously. Linus and Camille go to the plane in order to figure out if there is any residual electromagnetic energy, that’s the only thing that could cause technology and the lights to all malfunction at the same time. This gives us a moment to focus on Camus and everything happening with Linus and Camille. Linus recently found out that his father has cancer and during the investigation learns that things are not as positive as the doctor would have hoped. While coping with that, he also sees Liam’s name pop up on Camille’s phone. Instead of covering up what she’s been doing for Maggie, Camille tells him everything and he tells her that he believes her. It looks like Camus might be getting back to a more comfortable place in their relationship. Camille does have to field a call from Liam later, but she uses it to reconnect him with Kirsten. The phone call turns out to be way more intense than even she knows. Liam is talking to from inside Kirsten’s room and he’s taking pictures of her investigation wall. Not cool Liam, not cool.

Kirsten is trying to power through the stitches, but Cameron is getting very worried. She already has a headache and with more stitches things get worse. After insisting that she stay off of her feet for a little bit, Kirsten naps at Cameron’s desk. His phone rings and she answers it out of habit. The only problem is that Nina is the one calling. She wants to talk to Cameron, but Kirsten says he’s busy and tries to cover for him missing the dinner he and Nina were supposed to have. Nina sounds angry, but that isn’t the worst part of the phone call. Kirsten’s nose starts bleeding, but there’s no time to stop. Medical patches her up and the stitches start again. In an attempt to speed things along Cameron suggests hot swapping. This involves them switching out bodies while leaving Kirsten in a rest state. She won’t bounce out, but instead she’ll just be in limbo while they bring her new memories. It looks like the plan might work, until Linus realizes that he formatted the memory of the sixth person incorrectly. He’s stressed and tired, which is completely understandable. The hot swapping didn’t fail though. Young Cameron appeared and gave Kirsten a hint about how to solve the case. She’ll have to daisy chain the memories to see everything. She tries to tell the team about the plan after bouncing out of her sixth stitch, but passes out in the tank. Fisher fishes, yes I made the pun, her out, but even after that Kirsten wants to do the daisy chain plan.

Camille finds, okay steals, some equipment for linking all of the victims together and Kirsten finally sees everything that happened. It turns out that a man in the stitch who was messing with his watch actually set off an electromagnetic pulse that killed any passenger with a passport near their heart. In case you didn’t know passports have chips in them which react to electromagnets in a very dangerous way. All of these deaths can be tied back to that man, who it turns out is a wanted arms dealer. He had paid someone to switch identities with him and used the pulse to kill him so that he could make it out of the United States inconspicuously. Fisher and Kirsten are able to track him down based on a logo that she saw on his watch. When Fisher tries to take him in he threatens to kill people with his watch again. Kirsten takes him down with a broken laptop one of the survivors, who was making her way through the terminal, was holding. With the case solved Cameron tries to fix things with Nina, but she doesn’t want to talk. He chats with Kirsten instead, but he isn’t the only she talks to. Her phone rings immediately after she hangs up with Cameron and it’s Ivy Brown, who wants to meet right away.

This episode kept me guessing the entire time. I tried to solve the case, but I just couldn’t do it.The solution was a huge surprise to me, which I really enjoyed. Next week’s episode looks like it is going to be full of drama and I am definitely excited. Share your Stitchers thoughts with us in the comments or on Twitter, @thenerdygirlexp.
