After a long week, the good news is that it’s Friday. The bad news is that it’s Friday the 13th. For the superstitious, time to avoid those black cats and walking under ladders.
I’m not overly superstitious. But I admit that I find myself being a little bit more cautious on Friday the 13th. Yet, there is a way that I like to put a positive spin on this infamous date. I plan to watch Jared Padalecki in the movie Friday the13th.
I’ve been a huge fan of Jared Padalecki since he first appeared as Dean Forester on Gilmore Girls. In 2005, Padalecki became one of the demon hunting Winchester brothers, this time as Sam to Jensen Ackles’ Dean in The CW’s long running show Supernatural.
While I love Supernatural, I don’t consider myself a horror fan. I don’t gravitate towards the scare and gore. The relationship between the Winchester brothers is the allure of the show for me.
My decision to see Friday the 13th when it premiered in 2009 was exclusively because of Jared Padalecki. In addition, I had to smile a little that Jared’s character was named Clay Miller. Jared Padalecki played a character with my last name. Surely, Fate had to be calling out to me to see this movie!
In Friday the 13th, Clay Miller is determined to find his sister who has gone missing on Crystal Lake. Clay finds her, but the siblings are pursued by a hockey mask wearing, murderous Jason. Jason’s calling card is a bloody body count. Soon, Jason turns his wrath on the Miller siblings. The movie is filled with horrific, action-packed sequences as well as a surprise ending.
Yes, horror. But yes, Jared Padalecki. Despite the horror, Friday the 13th also has the theme of putting everything on the line for the love of a sibling. Just like Supernatural.
This Friday the 13th, check out Jared Padalecki in Friday the 13th. But I suggest that you still avoid black cats and walking under ladders. Better to be safe than sorry.
