This week’s Stitchers was a bit different than previous episodes. Instead of following a traditional chronological timeline, the plot instead started at almost the end of the case with Kirsten telling the story in flashbacks. At the end of last week’s episode we learned that Ivy wanted to meet Kirsten and when they meet this week she wants to know all about what Kirsten does and what their father’s work has to do with it. To help explain what she does with the NSA, she can’t just come out and say she stitches into dead people, Kirsten uses their most recent investigation as a way to explain it.
The case they are working on involves the son of a Senator, who was found dead in his apartment. What makes this so interesting is that he was involved with an app called Zip Couch. It lets you couch surf in available apartments and the deceased is a VIP host. Initially when Kirsten stitches in the guy seems like a gentleman, until she sees that he films girls who stay at his apartment getting undressed. While prepping the cameras for his latest guest he is shot dead by a person in a clean suit. At the beginning of the episode we learned that the case had been revealed to the press, which goes directly against Blair’s orders to keep it all under wraps. He also wants Kirsten to stop her side investigation for her father.

Kirsten, Cameron, and Fisher went to talk to the founder of Zip Couch, who acts very upset about the situation. He insists that they vetted the Senator’s son and though he would be good press for the start up. Cameron doesn’t trust him based on a reference from the Godfather. We then learn from Camille that there is someone posting tons of awful reviews about the site and the team brings in the source of the posts. It turns out that Zip Couch stole the primary investor from another start up company, and that this is not the only company started by this guy. All of these companies have previously flopped, which does not bode well for this one. When they go to question the primary investor they find him dead. Kirsten stitchs in and they learn that he was demanding a return on his investment as soon as possible. Even though the case isn’t solved yet Kirsten meets with Liam and tells him that she knows he’s connected to her father and wants him to tell her what he knows.

She also reveals her investigation wall to Ivy, who is impressed by the intense amount of math involved. There are equations for everything. Kirsten has also gotten another message from young Cameron, who breaks through a firewall Linus creates, insisting that someone will ask her a question and that this will show whether she is ready to know the truth. Fisher calls Kirsten to tell her that the murders have been made public and suddenly she thinks of something. The investment math for Zip Couch doesn’t line up and with Ivy’s secret skills the two learn that the company has investments over 3000% above what was needed for start up funding. The creator made Zip Couch and then killed his most high profile host in order to tank the company and make off with tons of nonrefundable money.

I love every episode of Stitchers, but this one in particular was interesting to watch because of the commentary provided by Ivy and Kirsten. Ivy in particular is great because she wants to understand where this information comes from and is looking to understand more about Kirsten. I don’t know if I trust her, but her relationship with Kirsten in this episode was fun to watch. Now there are number of other things going on outside of Kirsten, Ivy, and the case. Linus’ father is going in for surgery and while Linus and his family are there Camille comes to visit them. She is so sweet to his parents and supports Linus when he gets emotional after his father is taken out for the surgery. Cameron is also trying to fix things with Nina. She comes to his apartment and tells him that he needs to decide whether he wants to be with her or Kirsten. After solving the case Kirsten gets a call from Liam and in the biggest shock of all when she goes to meet him someone shoots him. He had just told her he would reveal everything he knows and suddenly he was silenced.

The finale looks like it’s going to be really crazy, especially with Kirsten stitching into Liam. I also really hope everything is alright with Linus’ dad. There are just so many things to tie up and I am very excited for next week. Share your Stitchers thoughts with us in the comments or on Twitter, @thenerdygirlexp.
