This is Cast Appreciation Week where fans of Beauty and The Beast are taking the time to thank the talented actors behind our favorite characters for their portrayals.
On Monday, September 12, we give praise to Nina Lisandrello for playing Tess Vargas.
Beauty and the Beast’s Tess Vargas (Nina Lisandrello) is a dedicated police officer who became captain at the 157 Precinct in New York.
Working alongside best friend Catherine Chandler, (Kristin Kreuk) the former Detective Vargas worked to bring the bad guys to justice. Then came her introduction into the world of beasts, and Tess’ life changed forever.
Tess began helping Cat in covering up crimes by Vincent Keller (Jay Ryan) in his attempts to stop the other deadly beasts out there and bring down the government organizations responsible. And in doing so, Tess questioned her integrity as a cop. She believed in justice and doing what’s right but suddenly things were no longer black and white.
The one good thing to come out of Tess’ involvement in the beast drama was meeting Vincent’s best friend JT Forbes (Austin Basis) and falling in love with him. The cop and the professor were a surprising pairing but it worked as JT and Tess brought out the best in each other.
But of course, JT’s fixation with beasts and helping Cat and Vincent tore the couple apart. I know that a lot of Beauty and The Beast fans are VinCat (Vincent and Catherine) supporters and although I want the best for that couple, I’ve always been more into the JT/Tess pairing.
And despite her feelings on bending the law, once Vincent was accused on being a terrorist, Tess decided that she would do what was right and help save he and Cat. Will this also bring she and JT back together?
Thanks Nina for playing Tess these four years and making her a strong character fans love.
