Thoughts on the Premiere of @SyfyVanHelsing from @kleffnotes

I have been obsessed with vampires for almost my entire life. The obsession goes all the way back to when I was 6 years old and pretended to be the daughter of Count Dracula, who happened to fall in love with a man on a cruise ship, and then have to leave him by turning into a beanie baby vampire bat. I used to watch soap operas with my mom and I think I mostly stole that plot from something we watched together. I have read and watched anything I could find with vampires in them and when I heard that Syfy would be releasing a show titled Van Helsing I was exceptionally excited. @jumblejim Book Review: Life’s That Way by Jim Beaver via @tdmiller820917

On May 10, 2005, I lost my mother to cancer. I went through the five stages of grief: denial, anger, depression, bargaining and acceptance. Eleven years later, I still find myself grieving and I still wrestle with at least two stages: anger and depression. I am sometimes angry at her for leaving me and I am angry at myself for harboring this anger. On my darkest days when I fight depression, I seek healing by writing poetry.
