Today marks the 21st anniversary of the film Jumanji starring the late Robin Williams.
Jumanji was released on December 15, 1995 and was based on the 1981 book written by Chris Van Allsburg. The film stars Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, David Alan Grier, Jonathan Hyde and Bebe Neuwirth.
In the story, Alan Parrish (Williams) and his best friend Sarah Whittle play the board game Jumanji in 1969 when Alan gets trapped inside. But in 1995, Alan is freed from the game by brother and sister Judy and Peter Shepherd (Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce). They find an adult Sarah (Bonnie Hunt) and all four resume playing the game to its conclusion in order to stop all the bad things that have happened because of the game.
Jumanji was filmed in New Hampshire an Vancouver and became the 10th highest grossing movie that year.
