Sam, Mike, and Violet are getting their footing as heroes in the latest issue of Amazing Age. After becoming part of the fictional world Sam created for them as kids these teenage heroes need to figure out how to use their powers. As they try to adapt there are some growing pains, as well as some villainous uprisings.
During a delicious breakfast of pancakes Violet is having doubts about her ability to help save the world. She really wants to go back to her normal life, but after a talk with Sam she decides that she should try and accept that she just might be super. Once they get suited up it’s time for our trio to try and learn how to control their once fictional powers. Mike is able to use his epic knight light skills almost immediately and while Violet was doubting herself she suddenly notices she can see things before they happen. The only one who has hit a snag is Sam, who previously used his powers and can’t figure out why they won’t work now. While our heroes are trying to evolve, the villains of this universe have taken this as an opportunity to grow their ranks.
Amazing Age #3 has a number of amazing moments, including a fight scene that will shock you. The training montages are also really fun and reminded me of some of my favorite X-Men scenes. We also see the connections between former friends Sam and Violet continuing to grow and Mike provides some fun ties to the real world. The bright colors and interesting characters within Amazing Age are perfect for readers of all ages. This series feels like you are being dropped right into your own comic book universe where you can be a hero. You can find Amazing Age #3 in stores Wednesday the 13th.
