Get Empowered at #ClexaCon from @kleffnotes

ClexaCon is teaming up with SAG-AFTRA, YouTube Space L.A., Outfest, and UNLV to bring something new to their convention. This is the third consecutive year of the convention and the second year it will be held at the Tropicana and for this third year the focus is on education and helping new creators find their way. With a diverse group of over 4,000 attendees from more than 40 countries last year, this year’s ClexaCon is looking to make the one of kind experience even more unique. The Boys Who Woke Up Early Book Review from @kleffnotes

The Boys Who Woke Up Early is a memoir-esque read from A.D. Hopkins set in the fictional town of Early, Virginia. His plot is told through the first person perspective of Stony Shelor as he recounts his youth through his senior year of high school. Throughout this fictional person’s story we are given an examination of race in the South alongside a glimpse into the South in the 1960’s. Miskatonic High Comic Kickstarter from @kleffnotes

Two of my favorite things are the worlds of H.P. Lovecraft and comics and something amazing is bringing these topics together through the drama of high school. Miskatonic High recently kicked off their Kickstarter campaign to create print copies of their first issue. I was able to check out the first and second issue and wanted to share my spoiler free thoughts on the series and why you should support this comic. Queer Representation and Queer Spaces from @kleffnotes

Recently there has been a great deal of discussion online, primarily on Twitter, concerning representation in media specific conventions and how this representation impacts these queer spaces. While no specific convention has been named it has become fairly apparent from comments and from inferencing that the convention in question is ClexaCon. A number of topics have been presented including how inclusive the convention truly is based on how primarily white, cis, and straight their featured guests appear to be. I will note there are some women of color on the featured guest list as well as some out women, though I will admit this number is small.
