The Maroon, from Owl Eye Comics and created by Derek W. Lipscomb is a mature series inspired by the tradition of American folklore, but with a twist. This ongoing series focuses on The Maroon, described by Lipscomb as a Black Seminole, who is running from a band of villainous bounty hunters trying to claim the warrant on his head. After an amazing run of newsprint comics in May and June, Alterna Comics starts their July run with the second issue of Croak. This delightfully horrifying comic was something I reviewed a little while back and for your ease of reading I’m linking back to my original review, as well as to my review of the first issue of the comic. The digital version was a wonderful read, but being able to read it in newsprint will add a wonderful element to this story.
