Dollhouse: The Eradication of Female Subjectivity From American Popular Culture releases in the U.S. this August after already having been launched for international sales after the 2020 online Cannes Festival. While the idea of stylized puppets may not lead you to think this is a piece that will be educational, it uses the humorous presentation to present viewers with the truth of fame and society’s views of women. Pride is coming to an end technically, though really shouldn’t we just be celebrating our identities every month? As someone who has never lived near a place that does a Pride event, the closest was about an hour and a half away and I was only ever able to go one time since I don’t drive, strangely quarantine allowed me to actually participate in one for the first time in ages. Lez Hang Out, one of the podcasts I try to actively listen to every week, hosted the live stream with guests from across the country. While I was not tuned in for the entire stream, what I did see was a delight and I hope that even if we aren’t in quarantine next Pride month that they host this even again. The Human Rights Watch Film Festival has moved online this year and while the festival did start on June 11th, it continues on until June 20th. For this ten day event those who wish to participate can purchase tickets to stream the films included in the lineup. I may not be the biggest Star Wars fan, but my wife Krista definitely has a minor obsession. She loved Star Wars far before I met her and her love of the Millennium Falcon is unrivaled, I even think she might love it more than Han Solo himself. We had planned to do a big to do for May the Fourth, but with the weirdness of the world right now and some personal issues, primarily concerning my health, that didn’t really happen. I though had jokingly mentioned doing an article where we tried to make the Star Wars universe a little bit more gay, or queer, depending on how you use those two terms. What resulted was a list of some characters we thought worked perfectly.
