Who doesn’t like to sing in the car? Late Late host James Corden is a believer in it and has been doing his carpool karaoke for a while now. He picks famous musicians and whisks them off to have the best carpool ride ever. He chats with them and they of course sing. Sometimes it’s the artists own songs, other times its other favorites. Either way it’s always a great time!
His latest was Adele. After releasing her debut album 19 in 2008, she rocketed to fame and took home two Grammy awards. Afterwards she took a bit of a break. I liked that she did as I often feel artists who release albums every year or every other are pushing their selves too much and often burn out or their music begins to sound too factory made. Adele, who also writes her own music, does not have that problem. She released 21 in 2011 and there were no worries about the sophomore album curse many artists face. 21 surpassed her debut and garnered her six Grammy awards. We waited again, this time longer and finally Adele released 25 in 2015 where she greeted us with the hit, Hello.

Not only has Adele garnered a closet full of Grammy’s, she has also been placed into the Guinness book of World Records. She is the first woman in history to have three simultaneous top 10 hits as a lead artist and the first female artist to have two simultaneous in the top 5 of the Billboard 200 and two singles in the in the top 5 of the Billboard hot 100. She’s also accumulated others, an Academy Award, Golden Globe for her song Skyfall from the James Bond movie. Digital sales of Hello sold over a million copies in the US (another record) and overall she has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, making her one of the bestselling artists in history, man or woman. I think this is due in part because of clever lyrics and an amazing voice that is soulful and often wistful. That is filled with all the passion and pains that you feel as well.
Adele also rules over YouTube. Her latest single, Hello, has garnered more than a billion (yes with a B) views and now she has another big YouTube hit with her carpool karaoke with James Corden. It has of course plenty of singing, but is also a sort of informal interview and you will learn several new facts about Adele. So far the video has had over fifty million views and it was only released nine days ago. So without any further ado, here is the video:
I hope you enjoyed it. I ended up singing along with them even though they both have great voices. I hope you watch Corden’s other carpool karaoke videos and watch his show, The Late Late show that comes on CBS, Monday through Friday at 12:30AM.
