Kick butt women in unforgiving spandex enjoying slushies, what’s not to love? Hannah Hart and Grace Helbig, both well known YouTubers, recently debuted their movie Electra Woman and Dyna Girl in a streaming format and I just got the chance to check it out. Now pay attention Bernice because this is important.

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl is inspired by the characters of the same name from the 1976 television series. The movie opens with Electra Woman, Grace Helbig, and Dyna Girl, Hannah Hart, hanging out in their Ohio apartment when suddenly their young neighbor Bernice bursts in. She has to do an interview for school and winds up learning about the Shadow Wars, which sets up the whole superheroes and super villains back story for the film. Our titular heroines wind up getting called in by CMM, a big superhero marketing agency, to become big heroes in Los Angeles. During their trip Electra Woman and Dyna Girl go on a journey of character development involving the arrival of the first super villain in years.

I’ve lived in Ohio my entire life and yeah, I can definitely see the allure of going to Los Angeles. We actually have a gas station where I live that totally  looks like the place Electra Woman and Dyna Girl go to get slushies. I loved Helbig and Hart in this movie, and I especially enjoyed the nod to Hannah Hart’s channel that happened when she gave a heartfelt speech near the end of the film. The music made me want to go watch her channel, I really like her My Drunk Kitchen videos. It was great watching a movie with two female superheroes as the stars. While the Marvel and DC movie universes have introduced female characters they are never the main focus of their films, but this movie shows Electra Woman and Dyna Girl taking down villains, even without powers. Seriously such great characters. The additional characters were also really fun, especially Frank.

Besides being a great movie I love seeing YouTubers get to do cool and exciting things. I was laughing so much during this movie and I think you should definitely check it out. You can get the movie from a variety of locations, but if you order it from the official Electra Woman and Dyna Girl site you can get not only the movie, but cool perks. Each of the packages available includes a variety of goodies from posters to t-shirts so you can show off your love for these fun and funny heroines.
