I should begin this article by saying that my sister has been very kindly letting Krista and I watch a couple shows on her Apple+ account. Much like everyone in the world, at least I think this is a very standard practice, my family all shares passwords to different services so that everyone can try and watch the shows they want. Krista is a huge fan of Sara Bareilles and she really wanted to watch her new show, Little Voice. The show follows Bess, a singer-songwriter, who is trying to find a place for herself in the music industry. When the series starts she is struggling with being able to perform after being heckled off of a stage while playing one of her original songs. While Bess is the lead she isn’t going to be the focus of this article. Instead I want to talk about Prisha, Shalini Bathina, her best friend and roommate. Meg, Nicky and Usman are friends who share an obsession with a fantasy role-playing game game Kingdom Scrolls. “Dead Pixels” follows their lives and their friendship both in the real world and online. Jase, the newest recruit at Meg’s office, is not only irritating but also very bad at the game, a big problem for Meg, who otherwise might have a crush on him. Together the group defends their castle and crush orc invasions, but over time find themselves forced to engage more and more with the real world through new gamer Russell (Wikipedia).

Although I’ve dabbled in drawing, I am not an artist.
But after watching Disney’s Tangled: The Series and Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, I was inspired to pick up a sketchbook again… something I haven’t done since 1991. The animation in this series is some of the best I’ve ever seen. I admire the creative talent behind this project. So it’s been fun drawing characters like Rapunzel, Eugene, Cassandra and Varian.
Below I talk about taking pencil to paper again after twenty-nine years and some of the challenges I’ve faced recreating the people and animals in the Kingdom of Corona.
Jennifer Hosten found herself in the midst of tremendous social and political upheaval in a very unexpected venue for modern audiences. In 1970, after winning a Miss Grenada contest she went to London for the 1970 Miss World pageant. Two top chefs are pitted against one another with a challenge to create extraordinary meals using only the ingredients taken from the fridges of ordinary families. Host Emma Hunter visits a family’s home and conducts a surprise fridge raid. Then everything is taken back to the studio where the family’s fridge is re-created for both chefs. Once the clock starts, the chefs have 45 minutes to get dinner on the table — cooking with ingredients they’ve never seen for people they’ve never met. When the time’s up, the family members take their place at the dining room table and taste each meal, scoring them on look, taste and originality — without knowing who cooked what. Those results are put aside and the same process is done for another family, but with an added challenge that forces both chefs to adapt to a totally unique culinary crisis. With both families’ scores tabulated, the final scene reveals the winner of the “Fridge Wars” battle (Wikipedia).
