I love a cozy mystery and when I was given the opportunity to review Arsenic and Adobo I was so excited. With the season changing this is the perfect time where I live for curling up with a good book. If you love a good mystery then this is a review you should read.
Arsenic and Adobo is part of the planned A Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mystery series. This is the first book, but if this is like many of the cozy series I have read you can probably expect more books pretty soon. As the first book this of course acts as an introduction to characters and how we find ourselves in what is typically a small town. Lila Macapagal has moved back home after a horrible breakup and she finds herself having to deal with matchmaking aunties and a failing restaurant. When a well known and notoriously nasty food critique dies after a bit of a dust up with Lila she finds herself tasked with a new challenge, get herself off the suspect list and solve this murder.
This fits so perfectly into the cozy layout: Lila has her nosy auntie network, a best barista buddy, and her adorable dog Longanisa to help her weave her way through this case. I loved Lila as a main character and the setting of the novel is pitch perfect cozy mystery. If you are a fan of cozies and are looking for something with elements of newness Arsenic and Adobo is perfect for you. You can get the book basically anywhere on May 4th, but you can pre-order it today.
