#CaptainAmericaCivilWar Character Appreciation Post: #ScarletWitch from @kleffnotes

I was able to see Captain America: Civil War this weekend and with the amount of reviews already out there I thought I would instead focus on a character that I really enjoyed from the movie. I will say that I loved the movie and thought the plot was even more engaging and complex than I initially expected. The fight sequences were also fantastic, kudos to all those stunt people because seriously they were doing some intense work. Now with that sort of review done I want to focus on how amazing Scarlet Witch was in this movie, but no spoilers. Think of this as a teaser for why you should go see the movie.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron we got to see Scarlet Witch, who everyone calls by her regular name Wanda during Civil War, use her powers and we got her backstory. We also saw her connecting with and becoming part of the Avengers team. I knew she was in Civil War, but I wasn’t sure how big her part would be. I was pleasantly surprised to see her appear in the very first scene. Her powers have gotten even more honed, which we saw as she controlled an explosion that none of them had planned for. Wanda does find herself dealing with tragedy and then a lack of trust from some of the Avengers and members of the government. It was heartbreaking to watch her reaction and to know that she blamed herself for everything, even though she was not the creator of the explosion.

We also get to see how her relationships with Captain America, Vision, and Hawkeye have grown. She had bonded with Hawkeye during the events in Sokovia, but this movie showed him helping her to deal with the fallout from Nigeria at the start of Civil War. Captain America has apparently been living with her at the Avengers compound when the two aren’t out on missions. He tries to help her deal with her guilt, but later in the movie with everything going on with Bucky the two only really spend time fighting against Team Iron Man. Her relationship with Vision was really touching. He seemed to be slightly more human around her and he tried so hard to do something sweet for her, even if he wasn’t exactly sure what he was doing. Elizabeth Olsen did an amazing job in this movie and I’m looking forward to seeing her in more MCU movies. I also really want to cosplay as her version of Scarlet Witch, even her casual outfits are wonderful.
