Catching Up on Oscar Winning Movies: A Review of @RoomTheMovie from @kleffnotes

You would think that a woman who works at a video store would be caught up on the things that get nominated for Academy Awards, right? Well, that is definitely not the case. Actually it’s never the case. I don’t live in a big city, which often means our one movie theater gets passed over for productions that are considered more independent or artsy. We get the big blockbusters yes, but a number of movies that were nominated we either didn’t get at all or only got for a week during the last year. We didn’t get Room at all, but it showed up at the video store right after the Oscars and I jumped on the chance to watch it. So, here’s my belated review of the movie that Brie Larson won her Oscar for Best Actress for. Continue reading “Catching Up on Oscar Winning Movies: A Review of @RoomTheMovie from @kleffnotes”

Do They Have a Frequent Viewer Card for @deadpoolmovie I Can Get? from @kleffnotes

Yes, I have now seen the Deadpool movie three times and every time I have gone I have had an amazing time. Now you might be thinking, Katherine isn’t going to see a movie three times in theaters a bit extreme? And to that I say heck no! I could use some slightly more colorful language, but I’m not going to do an R rated article, at least not today. Now this is all about why seeing Deadpool in theaters more than once has been more than worth it and why I would totally go again. The Danish Girl: A Visual Review from @kleffnotes

Today is Oscar Day and I thought I would discuss one of the movies currently nominated for an Academy Award, The Danish Girl. While the movie is nominated for Best Male Lead Actor, Eddie Redmayne, and Best Supporting Actress, Alicia Vikander, I wanted to focus more on the visual effect of the movie. The acting in The Danish Girl is wonderful, the actors are a pleasure to watch, but I was more struck by the elegance of what was going on around them. Black Mass Actor Reactions from @kleffnotes

Black Mass comes out on dvd and blu-ray this Tuesday and I had planned to do a review of the movie for today, but just couldn’t figure out how to write it. I tried, but every attempt just didn’t make sense. The movie is based on the true life events surrounding Whitey Bulger, who is considered the most infamous criminal in the history of South Boston. I thought that instead of trying to recap the movie I would instead talk about the reactions I had to a number of actors within the movie, some of whom I had no clue were even in it. Let’s Talk About The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from @kleffnotes

It’s Valentine’s Day so let’s talk about Ghostbusters. Okay, I know Ghostbusters 2 is when they announce that the world will end on February 14th 2016, but I really wanted to talk to you about the ever villainous Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. I mean he’s made of sugary sweetness, but that demonic being is pure evil I tell you. Continue reading “Let’s Talk About The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from @kleffnotes”

Man Up Movie Review from @kleffnotes

It’s Valentine’s Weekend so I thought I’d review something in the rom-com spectrum of movies since love is in the air and all that jazz. Simon Pegg and Lake Bell star in the movie Man Up as Jack and Nancy, who are sort of looking for love, but even in their wildest searches hadn’t even considered each other.  Continue reading “Man Up Movie Review from @kleffnotes”

Deadpool Movie Review from @kleffnotes

Grab your chimichangas, your stabbiest swords, and get comfy because we are here to talk about the Deadpool movie. Quick aside, don’t take stabby things to the theater, it’s not okay, and they might frown on you bringing in your own food, but shhhhh, you should be reading this review not in your movie theater. Now read my mercenary loving friends, read! Oh and no spoilers, promise, because spoilers are more evil than British bad guys (tiny hint at plot things).
