Our Brand is Crisis, starring Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton, about a presidential race in Bolivia, might look like an intense political drama, but there’s so much more going on in it. The Veil when it starts looks like it’s going to an homage to 1970’s cults, kind of like the television show Aquarius or the movie Helter Skelter, with a Charles Manson inspired cult leader urging his followers to accept eternal life with him on the other side. After the opening, the movie shifts to the modern day and we get a much different feel, one more like a Blair Witch style ghost investigation movie, with a surprisingly big name cast including Jessica Alba and Lily Rabe.
The movie Visions starts with a bang and just gets crazier from there. After a creepy title sequence full of green and black spider webesque lighting and flashes of fetal photographs we get dropped into the scene of a violent car accident. Continue reading “Visions Movie Review by @kleffnotes”
While at a Barnes and Noble over the holidays I noticed a section of books labeled from Page to Screen. I had heard of some of the movies that were being adapted into either movies or tv shows, but one I had never heard of was Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani. Fans of the long-running ABC soap General Hospital will be interested to know that The Storyteller has cast many of GH’s top actors, such as Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma), Constance Towers (Helena) and Kristina Wagner (Felicia).
I found an interesting little horror movie at work this week called Deathgasm and I mean with a title like that I couldn’t not watch it. I scooped it up and watched it super late in the night. The movie was made and set in New Zealand, and made me really want to rewatch What We Do in the Shadows, but this is an entirely different review.
