Tello Films and Dash Productions Kick Off IndieGoGo Campaign for One Of The First Ever Queer Holiday Rom-Com Feature Film Called “Season of Love”

Every holiday season traditional and streaming networks create a ton of holiday romantic comedies, but they consistently fail to create meaningful stories from the queer perspective.

Production teams Tello Films and DASH Productions are going to solve that problem this year with “Season of Love”, their first queer holiday romantic comedy feature, to address the lack of any predominant LGBTQ storylines in holiday romantic comedy films. The Blue Room or La Chambre Bleue is a French film from 2014 that is part of a Mubi’s recent creator highlight of the month. Released this week for view, The Blue Room by Mathieu Amalric, opens with a passionate couple in a blue room, but in a matter of minutes the tone of the film shifts. The man in the room is being questioned by the police about the woman he was with and it appears that their affair was not the secret he believed it to be. The Bi Line: Chasing Amy Retro Watch from @kleffnotes

Somehow over the course of my life I had never actually watched Chasing Amy. This becomes a bit more surprising once I point out that I have watched a number of Kevin Smith movies and I even used to watch the show he had on AMC. For date nights, since we are long distance, Krista and I sometimes pick out shows or movies to watch simultaneously and when she learned I’d never seen Chasing Amy she thought we definitely needed to add it to the list. Set in Ipswich, Oregon in 1984, Summer of ’84 is full of eerie feelings and worried thoughts. Davey Armstrong is a 15 year old who thinks that a killer could be lurking anywhere in his suburban neighborhood. His conspiracy theories begin to come to head when he starts to suspect his own neighbor is a serial killer. Reminiscent of 1980’s classics like The Goonies, but with a Rear Window style edge, Summer of ’84 is a new movie that perfectly hits that nostalgic urge. Hunter Movie Review from @kleffnotes

Hunter is a horror/thriller feature focused on a former professional fighter who is now homeless following the brutal deaths of his mother and sister. Not only is he grieving them, but he is also trying to cope with the knowledge that vampires killed them. With his memory trying to show him what really happened they night he lost everything and a new therapist and friend pushing him to work things out Hunter is drawn deep into a fight against the evil stalking the streets of Chicago in this movie. Little Odessa Movie Review from @kleffnotes

The streaming service MUBI is the perfect place for film lovers. This curated movie site shares both old and new features within a variety of categories. As part of their January and February collections they have presented a Sundance Takeover, which began in late January. Two of the features that I had already seen and recommend are But I’m a Cheerleader and Winter’s Bone, which are both still available on the site.
