Let’s Go to the Movies in 2016

The New Year is around the corner and it’s time to look forward. To realizing we’re breaking resolutions in a matter of weeks, of birthdays and holidays and SDCC or in my case, what movies are coming out. So without further ado, here is an up to date (as of today, all schedules have the possibility of changing which is why I only listed by month) collection of all the upcoming movies of 2016. Waste the rest of your day watching all the movie trailers, all of them.

All movie titles are links to show their respective trailers. Some movies that I’m the most excited about will also have a description so you know why I’m excited for this particular movie. Also mentioned if a trailer is red band, which for anyone not in the know means it shows adult content.

Everyone enjoy and I hope you have a happy New Year. Thanks for making @thenerdygirlexp and my personal account @quietlikeastorm such a success this year. I hope we continue with that in 2016. Cheers!

Hail, Caesar! – A Coen Bros picture with a huge list of stars who are playing stars making a movie about Caesar until everything goes wrong

Gods of Egypt – White people playing Egyptians and their Gods, but Gerard Butler is still hot at least
Triple 9 – Red band trailer. Crime drama with a ton of big stars in it.
Eddie the Eagle
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny – Never knew they were going to make a sequel, but I am so happy to see that they are. Another amazing martial arts film!
The VVitch

London has Fallen – Action movie where the president is in danger from terrorists, but this time he’s in London
Zootopia
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot – Comedy/Drama starring Tina Fey as a reporter in Kabul. GO SEE IT

The Other Side of the Door
Hello My Name is Doris – Sally Field I have missed you and this movie looks hilarious
Eye in the Sky

The Little Prince – Animated and based on the children’s book. Beware the sads
Miracles from Heaven
Midnight Special
The Bronze – Red band trailer. Bernadette from the Big Bang Theory goes gymnastic
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – Wonder Woman is finally in theatres! Also Batman and Superman show up. The comic-con trailer was the best so far, I think, and you can watch it HERE
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 – I never knew I wanted a sequel to this until it showed up
I Saw the Light – Hank Williams bio pic. British people trying to do Southern accents *sigh*

April

Before I Wake
The Boss – Melissa McCarthy has made another golden comedy. Also Kristen Bell, hella
Demolition – Jake Gyllenhal takes his life apart to understand and overcome his grief after the sudden loss of his wife
The Jungle Book – Disney live action movie. They did one before when I was a kid in 1994. This one looks as if it follows the original story much more closely and it is visually stunning.
Amityville: The Awakening
Barbershop: The Next Cut – Looks just as funny and heartwarming as the original
Everybody Wants Some
The Huntsman: Winter’s War – Sequel to the original Huntsmen that continues the tale (without Snow White). Thankfully this time we get TWO  evil Queens and yes the original is back in action
Born In China – Disney Nature film about a baby panda. Prepare yourself to explode from the cuteness and the feels
Tale of Tales – An adult trailer. An adult fairy tale. Strange and interesting.
Ratchet & Clank

May

Captain America: Civil War – Marvels blockbuster showcasing the huge comic story line of Civil War. Or the movie where people fight over Bucky and Captain America yells “FIGHT ME” at everyone
Snowden
A Bigger Splash – Already came out in the UK. Looks like a fun movie, until the end of the trailer…
Angry Birds
The Nice Guys – Red band trailer. Hilarious. Ryan Gosling. Russell Crowe. There’s nothing else you need to know
X-Men: Apocalypse – Another big superhero movie for this year. One of the Stark kids is Jean Gray. Professor Xavier finally goes bald. Oh and the whole apocalypse thing too.
Alice Through the Looking Glass – Sequel to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. This time Alice is trying to save the Mad Hatter from time itself. Looks just as freaky as the first movie

June

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows – Sequel to last years ninja turtles movie reboot. This time we get Rocksteady and Bebop. Also Casey Jones and the turtles party van
WarCraft – From the popular game we get the long anticipated movie. Visually pretty and CGI filled (how could it not be). It does seem to have a decent plot behind it
Now You See Me 2
The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Experiment
Finding Dory – Pixar has made a sequel to Finding Nemo and I need it now
Central Intelligence
Independence Day Resurgence – They made this as a sequel to Independence Day. It’s much more dark, gritty and not funny; probably because Will Smith isn’t in it

July

The Legend of Tarzan – Looks gorgeous. We’ll see how the plot holds up. Alexander Skarsgård is shirtless though, so yeah I’m going to watch it
The BFG
The Purge 3
The Secret Life of Pets – I’m happy to know I’m not the only person who tells their pets bye when I leave for the day
Ghostbusters -Sorry no actual trailer! So I linked the IMDB page with all the available info so far. I personally, can’t wait to see these funny ladies take on a hilarious movie
Star Trek Beyond – I’m going to be honest, I hate this trailer. The music, the fast and furious action going on. Where is my STAR TREK film? I could accept that it had been rebooted with a broader audience in mind, but this is too much. No thanks
Ice Age: Collison Course
Bourne 5 – Not a trailer as one doesn’t exist yet, but it shows some news from the movie

August

Suicide Squad – This long awaited movie will finally show up. We’ll get Harley Quinn on the big screen for the first time and a new Joker. I think it looks promising. Here’s hoping they treat Harley’s character right
Kubo and the Two Strings – Pretty animated film, gives me a Samurai Jack feeling

September

Bridget Jones’s Baby – Not an actual trailer, but shows set pics as the they haven’t put the trailer together yet
The Magnificent Seven – Remake of the original, no trailer yet available. I have linked the IMDB page though
Storks – Animated movie about storks delivering babies and a girl hellbent on ruining their baby factory? Made by Warner Bros, the same who gave us The Lego Movie.
A Cure for Wellness – A thriller where Jason Isaacs is the villain. I’m so there to see Lucius Malfoy on screen, always. Not a trailer, but a sneak peek
Masterminds – Comedy starring Kristen Wiig and Zach Galifianakis where they do a bank robbery gone right, but then there is a fall out and Owen Wilson turns into a bad guy
Delirium – Only going to be on Hulu now

October

Gambit – No trailer yet, but it stars Channing Tatum and will probably be a modest hit
Underworld 5 – No trailer as of yet, but Kate Beckinsale is back in this movie. A relief as I don’t think this far in the series could survive well without some of the original cast. Bradley James, a newcomer to Underworld will also be in it, so you know I will definitely be seeing it
A Monster Calls – Liam Neeson punches monsters now that terrorists and wolves are out of the picture
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back – Sequel to the orignal Jack Reacher film. Tom Cruise reprises his role of the title character. No trailer yet, so I linked the IMDB page

November

Doctor Strange – No trailer yet, but we know it stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelson. A great cast usually means good things for a movie. We will definitely be keeping you updated on this movie in the future
Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk – A comedy/drama war film it is based on a book of the same name where a soldier recounts his and his fellow soldiers last hours before returning to Iraq. It is in post production and stars Vin Diesel, Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin and Chris Tucker
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – This movie is set in the Harry Potter world, but has nothing to do with the original story. Instead this is based on a school book that was written by a wizard named Newt Scamander. He goes to New York and accidentally unleashes all sorts of magical beasts. It was written by JK Rowling herself, so you know the source material is good. I’m going to end up talking about this movie a lot
Bad Santa 2 – After thirteen years, we get a new Bad Santa film and yes Billy Bob Thorton is starring in it. No trailer yet, but I have linked the IMDB page
Moana – The newest Disney princess. She is Polynesian and the artwork previewed for this has been gorgeous. No trailer, but the link will take you to a sneak peek that does a great job of introducing you to the film and theorizing what the film will be about as Disney is being very tight lipped

December

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – Yes another Star Wars film, but this is a stand alone film about rebels trying to steal the plans of the Death Star. Exciting to get a new direction and something to tide us over before episode VIII. Has other Star Wars news too so beware of spoilers!
Assassin’s Creed – Not much is known about this video game to movie except that it stars Michael Fassbender. While a good actor, I don’t hold much hope for this movie. Video game movies are infamously bad and I am already optimistic for Warcraft
Passengers – A sci-fi film starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. No trailer yet, but here is some information about it in the link
Jumanji – A remake of the Robin Williams film in 1995. Not much is known about it yet but I had to include it on the list as I loved the original as a kid and still as an adult
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiars – Last but not least is this film based on a best selling book. It has an all star cast with Samuel L. Jackson, Asa Butterfield, Judi Dench, Allison Janney and Eva Green. It is also being directed by Tim Burton. I wouldn’t miss this film

There are more movies coming out in 2016, some haven’t been announced yet or the schedules will be rearranged. Many movies I didn’t include as I tried to keep this (already large) list down and tried to keep only the biggest and most interesting movies. There was of course far more information at the beginning of the year than there is almost a year from now so hopefully I will be able to update some of these soon with trailers and theory’s for you. Was there any movies I forgot? Tell me in the comments below or @thenerdygirlexp or my personal account @quietlikeastorm on twitter.
