The Potion @DirtRoadBooks Review from @kleffnotes

Dirt Road Books is a publisher that surprised me. I previously reviewed their book Bitter Root Queen and was struck by how much I really enjoyed this book. I am not often a romance fan, but I was blown away by the complexity of characters and the power of the story. I decided to mix it up and pick up a book that fit more with one of my more often preferred genres, fantasy. The Potion has a mad scientist like protagonist named Vera Kennedy who is fixated on creating an elixir that will give women the ability to live according to their desires, but when Georgette Harris arrives seeking help the two women find themselves drawn together into a mystery. Alex Priest #3 and #4 Comics Review ( @arledgecomics ) from @kleffnotes

Alex Priest is back! Admittedly Alex Priest has been back for a little while, but I only recently was able to pick up a copy of the third and fourth issues of the series. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Alex Priest, the genderqueer vampire hunter, works for an agency known as Living Corpses that Bite (LC & B), but when it appears that vampires have found a way to do magic they are going to have to team up with their ex, Janelle Garcia from Demon Eradication And Denial (DEAD LLC). The first two issues sucked me in and issues three and four definitely did not disappoint. Continue reading “Alex Priest #3 and #4 Comics Review ( @arledgecomics ) from @kleffnotes”

The Power of Mercy Book Review and Kickstarter News ( @YlvaPublishing ) from @kleffnotes

I’ve reviewed books from Ylva Publishing in the past and even did a feature on their books earlier this year as part of a series of ClexaCon related features. While at the convention I had the opportunity to pick up more of their books and found out about an amazing project they are undertaking. They have recently launched a Kickstarter to turn one of their books, The Power of Mercy, into a graphic novel. This is the first book in a series focused on a badass lesbian superhero of color, which is something that we definitely need more of in the world of superheroes.
