Pop Culture Kleffnotes: @HoudiniandDoyle Meet Spring Heel’d Jack

The latest episode of Houdini and Doyle dealt with murders connected to the figure Spring Heel’d Jack from English legend. @PreacherAMC Recap: Pilot from @kleffnotes

Preacher premiered on AMC last night at 10 pm and ran for an hour and a half and boy was that hour and a half crammed full of some intense events and character introductions. This might have been one of the bloodiest pilots I’ve ever seen, which has me very excited to check out the rest of the season. @StitchersTV Recap: The Guest from @kleffnotes

This week’s Stitchers was a bit different than previous episodes. Instead of following a traditional chronological timeline, the plot instead started at almost the end of the case with Kirsten telling the story in flashbacks. At the end of last week’s episode we learned that Ivy wanted to meet Kirsten and when they meet this week she wants to know all about what Kirsten does and what their father’s work has to do with it. To help explain what she does with the NSA, she can’t just come out and say she stitches into dead people, Kirsten uses their most recent investigation as a way to explain it. #Damien Finale ‘Ave Satani’ Proves that @AETV should #RenewDamien via @quietlikeastorm

Throughout all my reviews of the first season of Damien, I have maintained that it is a very smart horror show. It wasn’t about the blood and guts that is so popular in today’s horror and it wasn’t about the jump scares and screaming attractive teenagers of yesteryear either. Damien has been able to not only bring in the best of those elements, but also make something entirely its own. It was hard for many to wrap their heads around it at first. They wanted it spoon fed to them. Why think about an antichrist that has a conscience and may not want to do this or even believe it, when he could be out taking over the world already? Now, now, now. I like that showrunner Glen Mazzara and his writers rejected this and instead brought us the thinker that is Damien.
