After a week hiatus, Supernatural (And Lucifer) returned with the episode “Rock Never Dies.”
Everyone had their favorite things they liked about the episode. Here are mine:
Sam and Dean in leather : Hottest Cover Ever!
Fans of Supernatural know that in order to obtain the information they need for their cases, Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles) have to impersonate “trusted” individuals such as priests, police detectives and FBI Agents as well as reporters. But to find out the location of Lucifer’s (Rick Springfield) deadly concert, our Winchester boys dusted off their rock and roll duds and out came the shades and leather. And let me say, they looked both cool and hot! I definitely didn’t miss the FBI attire. Or the flannel.
Castiel and Crowley: Together Again
Since their unlikely partnership began back in the Season 6 episode “The Man Who Would Be King,” these two former “business associates” always seem to end up working together again. An angel and a demon, who would have thought it? On Supernatural, anything is possible. Remember hunter Dean’s friendship with vampire Benny? Whenever Castiel and Crowley share a scene together, expect amusing puns and disagreements over who’s in charge. Whole heaps of fun!
Rick Springfield Back as Lucifer
As a longtime fan of Rick Springfield since he played Dr. Noah Drake on ABC’s General Hospital, I looked forward with interest in seeing his appearance on Supernatural. However, I was torn about him playing Lucifer as I enjoyed Mark Pellegrino’s interpretation. But whereas Pellegrino played Lucifer as a snarky entity who enjoyed playing mind games with his victims while he expected sympathy for the devil, Springfield’s Lucifer was (pardon the pun) scary as Hell! And thanks to Supernatural’s makeup department, he was also visually scary as well.
Dean Playing Scrabble on Cellphone With Mary
I really thought this was a cute little scene. After Dean’s weeks of feeling abandoned by his mother, it was nice to seeing them bonding (even if it was long distance) over a game. Though I wish Samantha Smith had appeared in the episode.
Kadeem Hardsion Guest Stars
Although is was a short term role, Kadeen Hardison guest starring on Supernatural was a treat for those who watched and enjoyed his work in NBC’s A Different World.
The Gang’s All Here
In Season 12, there has been very few episodes featuring all four main stars of Supernatural. And in the episodes with Sam, Dean, Castiel and Crowley, they have little or no contact with each other. But in Episode 12 “Rock Never Dies,” The Winchester united with angel and demon for the common purpose of stopping Lucifer.
