I found an interesting little horror movie at work this week called Deathgasm and I mean with a title like that I couldn’t not watch it. I scooped it up and watched it super late in the night. The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, comes out on blu-ray and dvd on Tuesday and I thought I’d give it a quick review for you guys. The preview I saw for it looked funny, but when it was in theaters the one near me didn’t have it for very long and I missed out on being able to see it until much later. Okay, so I would have written this review even if The Martian hadn’t won anything at the Golden Globes, but it made for a more interesting title. I wasn’t able to watch The Martian in theaters. I don’t even remember a theater near me getting it, but maybe I just missed it. I had a friend who loved the book, he’s a biologist and while not a botanist, he was super excited by the whole farming on Mars aspect, but he had told me the main character was pretty funny so he hoped the movie would be funny. Now that being said the movie does have funny moments, Matt Damon as Mark is pretty good at bringing the humor, but I honestly don’t think this is a comedy. Eli Roth’s latest movie, The Green Inferno, was on my list of horror movies to watch way back when I heard rumors that it had been investigated for actual cannibalism while it was filming. I have no idea if these rumors are true, but hearing a movie was thought to have actual death in it intrigued me. Okay, maybe I’m super creepy, but that seemed like a ringing endorsement to me. When I first heard about the movie Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse I honestly thought it sounded like the sort of thing I would have picked up when I was was still in Girl Scouts.
