Mark Greaney’s Gray Man novels have garnered tremendous acclaim. Each book has drawn positive reviews as well as comparisons to beloved thriller series including those by Tom Clancy. This comes as no surprise as Greaney was actually the co-writer for the three final novels written by Clancy and also took over the series for four additional novels. Out of the Fire and into the Pan is a sequel to Shannon O’Leary’s The Blood on My Hands. The previous book showcased her childhood and the horrors that she dealt with her abusive home life in the 1960s and ’70s in Australia. Beyond just abuse there was also the looming darkness of murder that was kept covered up. This second book examines her life after these events and how she was able to become the adult she is now.
