If you have ever had to work on the holidays you might remember feeling bored or even wishing that you could be anywhere than where you are in the moment. Holiday Help Desk focuses on two women who are both stuck working on Christmas Eve, but in this short film they will find that maybe being stuck at the office isn’t so bad after all. Written by Hillary Esquina, who you might remember from our Passage coverage, this is a fun short that will fill you with holiday cheer. The Bi Line: Hot Dog Girl and Cameron Post from @kleffnotes

Summer romance isn’t exactly a fall theme, but with the chill in the air I wanted to delve into some warm weather reads with interesting characters. I had picked up Hot Dog Girl at Flame Con and finally had the time to read it, my to read list is impressively long. The second book I finally finished, after having it checked out from the library for about two months was The Miseducation of Cameron Post, which I had been curious about ever since I watched the movie. I don’t want to give too much away with either book, but if you want to feel the warmth of summer on this chill winter day keep reading. The New Sentinels series provides a variety of stories all set in the same magical version of our world. Djinn: Cursed Book Review from @kleffnotes

Erik Schubach may have completed his Urban Fairytales series, but his New Sentinels series delves into the worlds of the supernatural in a way that feels reminiscent of his previous series. In the first book, Djinn: Cursed he introduces us to Angelina Drake who finds her twenty-first birthday taking a surprising turn when she learns that a curse plagues her family and that she is the latest victim. If you are missing the women of lore from Schubach’s previous series or looking for a new series to delve into this book is a great introduction to a new world. Kappa Force @REVRYTV Review from @kleffnotes

The college experience has been portrayed in hundreds of movies and television shows, but Kappa Force takes the idea of college and gives it a queer and satirical twist. State University seems like the perfect example of an all American campus, but that image is shattered once you learn that The Douche has plans to take down the members of Kappa Force. Yes, the villain’s name is The Douche and he thinks this is a great choice, if that helps you to understand the high levels of campy hilarity that fill this series. Strange Waters Kickstarter Comic Review from @kleffnotes

Strange Waters is currently being Kickstarted by Arledge Comics, which is a publisher that I have showcased on The Nerdy Girl Express a number of times. They provide diverse LGBTQ+ representation in their books, including one of my favorites Alex Priest. This new anthology was previously being made by Haunted Cosmos Press, but was purchased by Arledge Press because they saw a great deal of potential and wanted to help bring this book to life. This book is made entirely by queer creators and presents 15 stories with a focus on water. Continue reading “Strange Waters Kickstarter Comic Review from @kleffnotes”
